Good evening. The filibusters tell me that there are 108 stories in the competition to date, with an average score of 4.32 from an average of 287 votes. Stories had an average of 29,377 views, an average of 10 favorites, and an average of 10 comments. The average ratio of votes to views is 0.98%. The average number of pages is 2.9, with the longest story being 24 pages.

So far there have been a total of 31,095 votes, 3,172,820 views, 1,162 favorites and 1,120 comments.

The standard deviation of scores (from the average of 4.32) is 0.40 and the standard deviation of votes (from the average of 287) is 391. Sweeps

Some votes have been reduced (swept) since the start of the competition. Well congrats to the winners. The quality of writing I got to read was awesome. Wish i had the time to read my way through all of the stories from top to bottom.

That I placed as well as I did was a nice surprise. While I could have used the money (who couldn't who's name isn't Trump, or Gates) I'm kind of glad i didn't get into the top three. Winning in the first contest I entered would make it impossible to live with me. And I'm hard enough to live with as is.

Ask my wife, The_Misplaced_Gypsy.

Well, will hope to get shivers and chills from all the upcuming stories in the Halloween contest. I intend to add my fair share. Grin.

Awesome statistics Sun

Why don't you do tables for number of comments and favorites as well ? Though I suppose we can do it ourselves by taking the first table, stick it into a spread sheet and sort by Fav and PCs.

I noted these interesting facts:

The story that won was the longest (except for the 24 page Novel), and no other contest story had more than 10 pages - but no 2 was the third longest with 9 pages.

The story that came in second had by far the most votes swept (676 - only one other story had more than 100 votes swept) - the no 1 had the fourth most votes swept, I think.

Of the 10 stories with most views only one was not in the Incest category.
Of the 10 stories with most votes only three were not in the Incest category.

Six stories had more than 100,000 views, and six stories had more than 1,000 votes - four of them were the same (all Incest).
None of them were winners, but lovecraft68 came closest with a 5th place and Tx Tall Tales was seventh in the score table.

LC and Tx, even if you did not win a price for those stories, I think you can be very proud of your results: your Incest/Taboo stories had by far the most views, votes, Favs and PCs of the Top 10 stories. And as far as I can work out you had the most Favs and PCs as well as the most votes. Plus Tx had the most views, and LC was fifth in amount of views. I would prefer those 'wins' over contest price any day. So congratulations from me - but of course also to Tx for his win (2nd place) with the other submission.

I noted that one of the First Time stories did make it into the Hot category (re my earlier post), and all three GM stories ended up there as well.

As for the other comments, I suppose it depends how you define "winning" which is why I posted the other lists. In your own mind you might regard "winning" as having the most views or the most votes.

Incest is clearly a popular category, so if you want a lot of views, write in that.

I didn't read every story, but most of the ones I read I enjoyed. And surely that is the real aim of the competition? A lot of high-quality stories were entered, and out of 108 entries, and only 3 "official" winners, there had to be a lot of "losers". Personally I wouldn't use that term. It was all good fun, and I admire the talent of the other authors and hope to learn from it.
