What blacks could learn from Jews

While a majority of Jewish Americans continue to vote for and support liberal Democrats, in recent decades Jewish organizations have been careful to nurture support in both major parties and in political organizations across the political spectrum.

A significant movement of Jewish conservatives have become active at national and local levels. In other words, whether by design or simply by a general maturing of the Jewish community politically, that community not longer puts "all its eggs in one basket" politically. And what has been the result of that? Republicans and conservatives have now become even more supportive of Jewish causes and of that community than the Democrats in many cases. Hell, even many formerly anti-Jewish extreme right fring groups now either softpeddle anti-Jewish views or have become pro-Jewish. Whatever you think of it, its been a pretty amazing transition in a few short decades.

Black Americans on the other hand continue to overwhelmingly shun the GOP at the voting booth and with the rare exception the overwhelming majority of blacks who run for office or are active in politics support the Democrats and actively oppose the Republicans. This leads to two problems, one, when the Republicans win the black community's issues are pretty much screwed, and two, the Democrats take the support of the community for granted.

Instead of waiting for the GOP or the "rightwing" to reach out or to "prove its not racist" (its already not), why not reach out to them? Why not encourage more blacks to join the Republicans if nothing else as a strategic move? As with investing or anything else in life you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket.

Sorry if this post offends anyone for whatever reason.

Meanwhile Republicans across the country are moving to suppress access to voting rights which disproportionately impacts blacks.

If I ran the GOP I'd post a WHITES ONLY sign at the front door. Obama'd order every Nigga in America to join the GOP.

This is only common sense. When it comes time for a winning candidate to appoint people to important post, or to back programs, they are not going to appoint, nor support those that actively appose them at every turn.

Do you have a link to support your bullshit or do you just spew some drivel and expect people to belive it? I am sure though you are speaking of voter ID, and the only reason the left opposes it is because they like to vote for the dead, and people that are too lazy or uninvolved to vote themselves.

Liar, it impacts illegal voting.

Liar?

LOL no. Republican efforts to restrict access to voting negatively impacts people who don't have IDs, or have IDs that don't have their current address on them. Groups negatively impacted include the poor, blacks, hispanics, the mentally ill, the homeless (including the occasionally homeless, couch-surfers, etc), the elderly, and folks of lower socioeconomic status who move around a lot to find work.

People should be free to not have a photo ID. It's their right. No Republican big government bullshit should force them to have one. And choosing not to have one should not mean they can't vote.

..

I believe Canada requires ID to vote and there is no major controversy. Any Canucks on here can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I can get a link. What kind of link would you like? Evidence that Republican voter suppression crap disproportionately hurts poor blacks relative to middle-class whites?

Do you really need a link to understand that the more people move around and the fewer resources they have, the less likely they are to have an up-to-date photo ID?

You don't have a right to vote.
No where in the us constitution does it give you the right to vote.
It's not in the 15th race,16th sex are 26th age amendments.

What does that have to do with my point?

Having ID or no doesnt cause controversy here since voter fraud is immeasurably small. Republicans want to make a fuss about it though.

The type of voting violations that do occasionally happen (coercion and buying votes) arent even addressed by the voter ID thing.

So? There is nothing that keeps them from getting an ID but laziness. The Liberals want to continue to be able to have dead people and people that are to lazy to vote, cast votes. These poor you speak of are the richest poor in the world. Most of the people that live in free housing and section 8 housing have cars, cell phones, computers, flat screen tvs, and other things that are easy to do without. Spend 5 bucks on an ID if you want to vote, it just means that you have to give up a Big Mac for an ID that is good for years. You are so full of shit that you squish when you walk.

More like 1/3rd of Feral Democrats are ex-cons and cant vote legally.

True... but it also doesnt have to be photo ID up here in Canadastan

getting replacement ID can take weeks if not months, and is often outright impossible if you don't have a permanent adress...

we realized this going in... so if you don't have photo ID, all you have to is present 2 pieces of authorized identification.. such as your birth certificate and hydro bill for example

Many countries require IDs to vote. Proper photo ID like a passport or driver's license. Mine included.

However, most of those countries have their ID systems in order. Nobody would be refused to vote for showing the "wrong type" of ID, because there is no such thing. Aquiring a valid ID is a national, standardized, streamlined, public service, free of charge process that from what I've understood is not the case in the United States. Hence the confusion. Por ejemplo: Not the right adress on the ID? Why is there even an adress on the ID at all? It's irrelevant to my identity. People move all the time. Doesn't change who they are.

Not this crap again. Poverty doesn't exist in the USA!

Back to my original point, Republican vote-suppression efforts disproportionately effect blacks and they know it. Then Republicans wonder why blacks aren't voting for them.

There is no "vote suppression effort," its completely made up non-sense.

We've had a lot of electoral fraud with illegal aliens and dead people voting in recent years. Should that be ignored?

I never said there was no poverty. Reading and understanding what you read are skills you should work on. Btw if you give up the Big Mac and spend the money on an ID then you will be able to cash a check, open a bank accout, rent a movie, pick up you grandkid at school, many other things, all for the price of a burger, oh and vote too if that is important to you.
