When the weather heats up in a few months, I am planning on walking 21 miles across mostly open desert for exercise, tanning, and bragging rights.

21 miles isn't too rough. I know people who have walked almost 100.

What do you think?

I think the sheriffs rescue posse will haul your dead or dying ass out of the desert. Another waste of the tax payers dollars.

This thread's D.O.A., Mikey. It's missing what the fans out here have come to expect. There's no conspiracy angle to it and you're not whining about your lack of intelligence. You're just planning a phoney personal challenge... Meh!

Bring lots of water.

How will you know you've walked 21 miles?

Oh, and in case you didn't think it through, it's another 21 miles to get back.

Have it like a fundraiser, Mike Yates college fund?
If you can do that kind of distance then you should easily be able to walk to a college! :D

Go for it.

Forget the tanning.

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name. It felt good to be out of the rain. In the desert you can remember your name, 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain

There goes a fly with a buzz.

The only ones taking this walk are the poor putzes who have been responding to this foolishness. "...Mile 16 and Mikey said he was out here...? You seen him? Damn, but it's hot!..."

25 miles is nothing, track runners, athletes, and olympic sprinters RUN for twice that length!

It can EASILY be done!

last july i did a walk about for 4 days. backpack, no tent, a little dried food, water filtration bottle. last day i did 12 miles in 2 hours. of course, not in a desert. but i was 46 at the time.

By you? Cause don't take this the wrong way, but just because some one some where can do it with ease doesn't mean ever one can. But if your going take food and water. You're going hiking a while, and sun screen.

And I'm still younger than you. Bwahaha. :D

In my day, we would do the 100 yard dash in 25 miles, so yes, its definitely possible. Kids today have it so easy.

Clark W. Griswold already did that in the movie "Vacation."

Can't you think of something original?

Do it, Mike. You need the tan. Dont wear the 'Nam hat. How do you plan on carrying all that water you're going to need?
