Massachusetts Roll Call

Pats vs. Colts today!! Anyone headed to the game???

Did you get a chance to go? The game was fun to watch for the 2nd and 3rd quarters...the other quarters the patriots took off. How are things going for people? Any fun Christmas or new years plans?

No, I didn't go. :( But I did watch the game from the comfort of my living room!!

I *wish* I had fun plans...but I'll be unable to spend either holiday with the person I'd like to be with. I'll likely have a nice Christmas with my family and I have yet to make NYE plans. Last NYE I was on a white sand beach in FL...it's going to be hard to beat that!!

How about you??

I represented. I go to every home game. Club level is perfect. And try to make some away ones as well.

Plus it helps I have a weakness for girls in jerseys.

FL will be hard to beat. I am sorry you cannot be with the one you want over the holidays. Can I help at all? I havent figured out what i am doing for the holidays. Well, whatever you end up doing, i hope you have a great and relaxing time!

Awww thanks for the offer. I'm sure I'll come up with something fun to do...maybe I'll go sit on the beach in Revere, not quite the same as FL, but if I stay up late enough I can watch the sun rise on a whole new year!!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. (Just incase I am not on to post it during that time)

Hope all is well in the land of MA. Still hoping for a lil snow - at least for Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Aurora (in case you're not around)!
I hope the holidays with your new love are wonderful!!

We don't have much in the way of snow here either...just a dusting from last night. A bit more to make it feel Christmasy would be nice, but only if it can stay warmer too!

Quiet weekend here...Christmas tree is twinkling away in the corner of the living room, mistletoe candles are burning, I'm sipping a glass of wine and writing a few cards out. I made German Cinnamon Star cookies today and will bake more tomorrow...now if only there was someone to share it all with. It's no wonder the holidays can be a depressing time for so many people.

Well, anyway...Go Pats!! Go Bruins!! Have a great week everyone!

So...I was catching up on my DVR tonight and saw some people I know (discussed and interviewed) on Hidden City - Boston with Marcus Sakey! Not to mention a few of my favorite places/things (The Green Monster, Mike's Pastry, The Littlest Bar, and St. Augustine's beautiful stained glass windows to name a few).

Anyone else see it?

I must say, having awoken yesterday morning to 50F+ was an interesting (and sunny) way to start the New Year. However I had a bit too much to drink and a hangover headache also was there to wake me up.

I did make a delicious new drink, though!!! Cranberry Juice and Coconut Rum = the most delightful tasting red lollipop flavor ever. Yummeh!

How was everyone's drunken stupor end of year bash? Hopefully everyone was safe!

I had a wonderful NYE - Got to spend it with two delightfully lovely Lit MassHole peeps, one of which is my main (and only) squeeze. My NYD was splendid as well. So all in all, it was a wonderful way to ring in the New Year.

Anyone do anything fun? Good/humorous NYE drunk stories they'd like to share?

Anyway, best to everyone in this New Year. Hope it's a great 2012! (Even if it's supposed to be the "end" of the world)

You could toss patients around and make it a new Olympic game! I kid.

So, I just wanted to share this, as it was a massively upsetting day yesterday. Since I was a widdle kid, Friday the 13th has been a lucky day for me. I've found $50 on the ground, won prizes etc. Yesterday, however, was the first time in my 26 yrs that Friday the 13th was a bad day. All because of one thing. *Warning: Sad Story* **2nd Warning: I am a gadget geek, especially computers and cameras** You've been warned.

The story:
On the 9th I purchased (after lots of saving, researching and building giddy-ness) a brand new camera. I loved my old one, it did a lot, however it was the kind that's in between a P&S and a SLR. AKA - cannot change lenses. So this one was a big jump up from the old one. *New: Canon EOS Rebel T2i*

Well, on the fateful day (13th, if you forgot) I saw that the UPS Stork was on it's way to my house. This news then brought a happy little dance, a huge smile and extreme impatience. (Found out at 9:30am)
At 4:30pm, I received a tap on my door and who was it? The UPS Stork, handing me my bundle of joy. Quickly I signed and placed the box on the table. Carefully I opened it (joyful squeals throughout the process), took everything out of the box, then lifted the little package containing my pride and joy.

Once that box had been open, I lifted the wrapped bundle and my heart skipped. Slowly I removed the bubble wrap and bag, and then held my beautiful lil girl in my hands. And she was beautiful. Everything I had wanted and then some. I even named her.... Tabitha.

Excited to put her together (lenses came with it), I brought the manuals (Yes, I RTFM), lenses etc with me to my comfy chair and began to read about my darling Tabitha. When it came to putting on a lens, I carefully (always carefully, as it was an expensive addition to my world - much like human children) removed the caps from the 18-55mm and then lifted my Tabitha to remove her cap. Yet, I heard something that made my heart sink. Actually, it made me want to vomit. It was a clinking noise, much like needles in a tin can.

Fearing the worst, I removed the cap to my lil girl and out popped 3 parts that should not come out of a camera. The parts were for the view-finder (little hole you put your eye against). Two gold brackets and a small pane of plastic that helps the user see through the view-finder. These little parts sit above the mirrors within the camera.

I nearly cried - actually, there were tears shed - and sat speechless with Tabitha in my hands. Not even an hour after I got her. I hadn't even turned her on! (keep it clean) My pride and joy was broken, as was my heart. Immediately I emailed the seller and explained my depressing situation. Yet it was just before 5:30pm. The company was probably gone for the evening, and definitely gone for the long weekend.

So here I sit, looking at the repackaged bundle of joy that died in my hands. I wait for an email in hopes it can be returned easily. (I'm hoping it's not to return EVERYTHING in the box, as the rest was perfectly fine. I'd prefer going to a camera store, having it fixed, then billing the company. It's silly to return EVERYTHING when it's just a few pieces that need to be put back in place, and then checked to make sure it wouldn't happen again)

We shall see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, Aurora is a grieving mother of a beautiful camera that is broken. :-(

Oh Aurora! I'm so sorry to hear about your new baby! As the owner of that same model I think once you get a replacement, you will LOVE her immensely!!! I have taken so many beautiful pictures and learned to play with PhotoShop and make my photos even more interesting.

I hope you bought her from a reputable company. For future reference B&H online ROCKS!! Much of my gear has come from them.

*~*~*

I hope everyone has had a decent start to their new year...for me, these two weeks have been wonderful!

Go Pats!! I'm looking forward to seeing who they'll be playing later.

My first post of 2012. lol. Think I lost interest in this forum once I got interested in someone IRl.

Sucks. Usually they make you mail things back..unless it's Best Buy..they do it for you.
