The Safe Haven

Sorry, I shouldn't be bringing this up on the thread. Just my own daft little problems. Sorry.

I've calmed down. :)

When you feel the stress that triggers these events, are the thoughts and feelings you are having overwhelming your mind or is more minor stress events? Basically, large amounts of stress and infrequent or small amounts of stress and frequently?

You are not alone in this. Many people inflict harm on themselves. Was there a general time when these events started? Specifics help, such as "I am 24 and this started happening when I was 19."

While you have experienced a lot of hurt from various people in your life, can you list three things, non-sexual, that you find peaceful or things you find soothing? It could be an action you take, something you listen to or something to look at. Your answers are not wrong and can be as vague as writing to as specific as paintings of roman architecture.

Large sudden amounts.

I'm 26, started at 3/4.

I like country music. :)

For these large sudden amounts of stress that occur, if you can, play country music. Most cell phones can play music, even the simple ones. In addition, see if you can find a picture, a piece of art, a trinket you are especially fond of that you could physically keep on your person. When the feelings of stress start to take hold, listen to the music and take out the picture, trying to focus on nothing but those items. Focus on the minor details of it, what a great place it is, how calming it is, etc. It will take time, but the goal is to not make the stress go away, but get it from large, sudden, uncontrollable down to a point where it can be managed.

What was going on in your life around the age of 3/4?

.....
Nevermind.

I know you have been hurt, more than most. Your posting here shows you have a desire to seek help. I encourage you to keep writing here, if nothing else to have a place where some of the stress can be vented by letting others know about it.

Ahhhhhhhh!

I survived another night.

Not so sure I am liking the new PCP doc now. She can remember what my last cast looks like but was all over me about my blood sugars then finds out she she didn't tell me to fast & it wasn't in the paperwork either. Calling me a diabetic on 1 test isn't making me feel great about her. Add in she didn't remember to order any blood work on my thyroid. Then she was all over my white count being a little high & couldn't figure out why... gee didn't I have a major surgery just 2 months ago & I'm still in healing mode. I'd think THAT might be a CLUE???

I got jumped on for pretty much everything except my good chlorestrol is good, the bad just a little higher then she'd like but made that sound like I was gonna die tomorrow. The blood sugar was way too high but she seems to think cause I've mainly been living on boost it was no big deal until I pointed out it had a lot of sugar. So now she wants me to buy the diabetic protein shakes until I get back to eating more like a normal person. I have to go thru ALL of this again & see her in another month.

She didn't want to write me any pain meds (even the ********) cause she wanted my pain management doc to do it. Gee I don't have one of those, THAT is what I have her for. She then proceeded to make me move the shoulder all around so she could feel the clunk before writing the ******** script. I thought I hurt yesterday monring until last night hit. I am really glad P came over & worked the bone frag back into a less hurtfull location. I was close to throw up mode to get there.

Am I being too bitchy expecting a new doc to have some common sense, listen to what is going on & remember more then what my last cast looked like? The fact it was #6 seems to freak her out a little. WTF???
