doesn't make it a good idea. Oh great! This guy is an Iron Man fan so what does he do? He builds a hand held laser 200 times stronger than the level considered safe. Nice job, fella!

You can make this kind of thing illegal, and confiscate his little toy, but he'll only wind up cutting off his hand with a butter knife... accidentally of course.

I'll say this again: Being stupid should be utterly painful. In the end, they're going to seriously hurt themselves anyway.

I agree! Why can't his laser do everything Iron Man's can?

I mean, I know it's probably impossible, or at least (one would hope) unfeasible, but it's already clear this guy's not going to let a little common sense get in his way. :D

Hey, that's pretty neat! He needs to develop a more powerful battery and pump up the laser's power. It would sure ruin a mugger or a rapist's day. :D

And, y'know, his day, when the police eventually catch up with the guy walking around with a goddamn laser strapped to his hand. ;)

Perhaps the military should offer him a job designing lasers. . . . .

He didn't design the laser, he designed the holder. All the parts are off the shelf items, except the wrap around hand mount. That's the only part he made/designed. Along with the on/off switching.

The laser was a pre-assembled off the shelf part anyone can buy at Radio Shack. He just upped the power going into the thing so it put more out.

Yeah, HP I really don't think you want to know what the military really is doing with lasers.

I know about the Big Jumbo thingy (a chemical revolver of just six shots) and something of the semi-conductor thing who's output looks encouraging.
I'd love to get one for my car. . . .
