When Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by drug smugglers in Arizona last December, Tom Tancredo revealed that Terry’s BORTAC unit (the Border Patrol’s equivalent of a SWAT team) were armed with bean-bag rounds in their weapons:

The reason they are oppressed is because their government has this safety valve for them that allows a "letting off of steam" as it were. Those who would protest and fight for Mexico, instead come here for a softer form of oppression to live in the shadows of "sanctuary" cities. Then the idiot war on drugs (which is actually fought as if the war were on drugs!) sets up a secondary government in Mexico and even more oppression and misery.

But that exploitation offers economic benefit to any government doing it. How sure are you that your government is not funding the dramarama down there as a smoke screen to cover the fact it is actually counting in mexican labour in its economic strategies? It is like China. If cheap goods from there stopped flooding Western market places there would be real problems so the West has little incentive to plump for better conditions for Chinese workers.
