I want to give a big thanks to voluptuary manque, otherwise known as the Bear for sending me a Dive Camera.

This camera will allow me to try my hand at underwater photography, hopefully with decent results. (I know it's not as easy as taking pictures on land.)

The camera arrived today in the mail.

Here's a picture of it soon after I unpacked it.

Again, thanks Bear.

Dude! Congrats!

That Bear is a real friend. And we expect wonderful images from you the minute Dive season starts! (is there such a thing? or is it always Dive o'Clock?

It's almost always dive season here. (Right now it isn't because of a wind out of the North East kicking up the waves. Roughly 4-6 feet today and higher waves are expected for the rest of the week.)

That being said it will take me some time to get used to the camera and taking pictures underwater. (It's not as easy as it is on land. Not only are your subjects moving but you are too.)

There will be some pictures up eventually that I can promise.

Way cool. The Bear's a good man.

I bought an underwater camera in 1986 made by Canon after having seen one used on an ocean sailing passage. It was a simple affair by comparison to the Leica M-2 I'd been using up 'til that time— what I jokingly referred to as a "PHD" camera ( "Push Here Dummy" ). It never occurred to me how useful that underwater camera was going to be. I used it for more than twenty years in a wide variety of outdoor activities around the world: canoeing, climbing, kayaking, swimming, skiing, sailing, shooting, diving, and biking— among others. Waterproof and all but indestructible, it proved invaluable.
