Okay good people I'd like to know your thoughts on this topic after going shopping with the girls last night. :)

We were in an upscale store trying on clothes. We spotted at least four men that were obviously bored out of their minds trailing behind their gals as they shopped for clothes. Why?? I can see if it if I'm buying a sexy dress for a special occasion but to just trail around with me? No wayyyyy! Okay gals--what am I missing? I never take my guy nor would I ever put him through the experience. Isn't that what girlfiends are for??? :)

I'm eager to read your responses and see why we all do what we do. :)

In 14 years of marriage I think my ex and I went shopping ONCE for clothes for me...I had gotten a new job that required dresses/suits, etc and he offered to pay (that's another long story about money with the ex for another time).

Anyway, it wasn't bad and I HATE to shop myself, I took maybe 10 outfits in the dressing room and only came out to show him the ones I really liked, we got about 8 pieces that were a combination of blazers, skirts, and tops that were interchangeable and were done in about an hour.

Like I said I do hate to shop but I've seen men that trail behind women like a pack mule and I don't get it either!!!

I've been lucky to pretty much only have to do it as a side trip to whatever we were out doing. The one time it was serious was when we hadn't spent much time together and I just sat in the designated male bordom seat and fell asleep while she buried me in clothes over the next hour as she shopped around. That work fine for me.

As pointed out eariler, unless it's something special, I can't figure out why. I don't even like shopping for my own clothes so I don't find any joy in watching someone else do it.

Just the title of this made me smile. I am the stereotypical man who hates to shop for clothes. Even as a kid I viewed this as a kind of torture. Yet when I was dating I would go with my SO just to be with her and do something together. Sure, it wasn't what I really wanted to do together, but you have to get out of bed sometimes. I still go once in while with my wife and even try to be helpful and positive. I probably fail in both things but I still just like being with her.

Beats the hell out of me. I'd much rather take someone who thinks shopping is as much fun as I do. My honey would rather have his eyes gouged out with a dull spork than go shopping. Ok - that's an exaggeration, but you get the drift.

Typically the two are out to do several things together that day and shopping is in the middle. I don't think it would be an improvement if they left the men in the car. If it's a store that also has men's clothing they might have needed some clothes of their own.

Some men have a better grasp on the idea of how to have fun with shopping by making fun of the more absurd clothes for sale and bizarre sales displays, or commenting on the other people in the store.

Over her some of the shops have Playstations or Xboxes so you can drop your man in the middle of the shop with the other males and you can spend away quite happily.

I hate clothes shopping unless it is absolutely necessary (new work outfits, special occasion coming up, etc) so why on earth would I drag along my guy who'll probably be hating it just as much as I am? I feel sorry for all those guys sitting in the 'bored-to-death' seats!

I made aa deal with an ex gf and kept it with every girl I've been with up to and including my wife. I will go shopping with you, but our last shop is either Victorias secret and or fredricks of hollywood or one of the local slut clothes stores where strippers buy there outfits. For every hour we spend shopping fir your stuff you wer what I buy you at this store for an hour. Makes her shop a bit faster and I know I get something good in return.

wanna take bets that none of the four men were married? The girls do it because they can. They laugh later when the guys are gone.

LOL!

I think Y'all are just sadistic!;)

Although I snapped early in life to the fact that while it seems to take forever for a woman to pick out clothes,I do like to ogle the fine looking ladies clothes shopping too!

In general, I'm not a fan of shopping--my female friends and I are more about watching movies and reading books than clothes shopping. When my husband and I go shopping together, though, he gets dragged through a lot of stores I like, and I get dragged through a lot of stores he likes.

No, it's not an exaggeration. I'd rather have my balls caught in the delicate jaws of vise-grips than go shopping, I hate it that much!

What's more unappealing is that the girlfriend thinks nothing of dragging me wherever the hell she wants to go at her whim, then bitches about doing things that I want to do. Ok, she doesn't so much bitch as pout and cast clouds over my festivities. I've gotten to the point where I tell her I'm going to go do something and if she wants to tag along that's fine. It's actually easier to just do things during the day while she's at work than to deal with her when she's at home.

Any of you fine Lit ladies open to adoption? Will munch nipples for food! ;):D

Sweetie, you know I'd adopt you any day.....

It's beyond me...I am a person who loves shopping, I've been known to spend even 4 hours in just one store, but for crying out loud, I would never make a guy go trough all that. Everytime I'm in a store, I spot at least two-three guys, holding purses. I always wonder if they did something really really bad and that's the punishment :)

 I don't even HAVE dangly bits and that description made me cringe, Nip!

As for the rest of it....oy! That's no fun. Thankfully, the hubs and I have gotten to the point where we can cheerfully send each other on our merry way if a particular activity is positively loathsome to the other person.

I only have myself to blame. I set a bad precedent when I moved in that I was the chauffeur, now she can't go anywhere by herself.

I partially call it pussy whipped.

But at the same time, unless it's co-ed shopping I'd either prefer internet shopping or to go by myself or with a girl. But that's just me.

You'd be right if I was actually getting some pussy, but I'm not, so it's just the torture with no happy ending. Of course, I exaggerate, there's usually a happy ending in the form of her buying me a beer after the shopping. :D

Hubby is quite helpful when we go shopping together ( just have to make sure he is well fed beforehand so he doesn't get cranky lol)

Now he isn't the type to spend hours in stores with me but he will gladly accompany me on short trips, he even tours the store while I am trying clothes in the changing rooms and will bring me new stuff to try on that he likes or thinks I might like, now I am pretty sure that he does this because it gets him brownie point to all the other girls in the store for being so helpful and sweet, but hey I aint going to complain about it, it helps me.
