Okay, BMF, you win. When I told Wifey about this thread, she got up and left the room. While I was still contmplating the WTF?!, she came back in carrying this one and told me it was the best one I'd given her. It kinda sucked that she thought the several since then didn't compare, but I guess since this one immediately came to mind half a decade later, it can't be all bad. Still more Dr. Suess than Whitman, though.



You’re thinking either to yourself or aloud:
“Why did he send me two roses?”
Or maybe even saying to one of your friends:
“Do you see the way he brown-noses?”

My friends all say I’m hopelessly whipped,
And that I will be for the rest of my life.
Well, duh! The smartest thing I ever did
Was ask you to become my wife.

But it still doesn’t explain why I would send
Two tokens of love to you.
It’s one more birthday after seven years;
You’d think just one would do.

C’mon sweet Wifey, oh angel of mine,
Don’t you see how happy I am?
You’re twice the woman that I deserve,
And you’ve made me twice the man.

Or here is another example of two
In I world where Hubby always wins:
I have an awesome wife with beautiful boobs;
Of course I had to mention the twins.

But the bottom line, all jokes aside,
Is that I’m still in love with you.
And after seven years without the seven year itch,
I’ll be in love til my life is through.

You see, one rose is for you, my dear,
And the other is for me.
Together they represent our wonderful marriage,
In which I’m as happy as I can be.

So there it is, my lovely bride,
I hope I’ve explained it clearly.
From now til death, and through Heaven’s gates,
I’ll always love you dearly.

So excited to have a place to read your work... and you are right.. you don't fit in the poetry forum... you break the mold... don't need to be the status quo.... It is ludicrous to me that anyone can tell someone else that their poetry is wrong or isn't visual enough. Writing in general is so subjective.... someone once told me - a painter doesn't paint for the audience - he/she paints for the feeling of putting that paint on canvas... the experience of creating. We all create in one way or another and no one person is going to satisfy everyone all the time...
Thanks for sharing BMF... I look forward to reading more of your work and the work of others that find a comfortable place here.... it's been years since I've written any poetry... perhaps I'll even give it a go.
