Just how loud is the Hitachi?

I can't tell you that, but I can tell you that I always turn on a fan and a radio when we're making noise.

It's loud-ish. With it on low, you can probably get away without being heard if you've got doors closed and a fan and/or radio on. Not so much on high, though. Most people I know can't stand it on high, anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.
