Thank You Slimey Limeys

BP expects to conspire with other major oil producers to increase the price of crude to pay for its Gulf blunder. Tony Hayward, CEO of BP sez COULD APPEN TO ANYBODY, MATE! HANG TOGETHER OR HANG ALONE, WE BRITS ALWAYS SAY.

I don't recall seeing too much protest about this one:-

"It emerged that the Exxon Valdez had dumped 11 million US gallons (41.8m litres) of crude oil and contaminated about 1,300 miles (2,080 km) of coastline.

Around 250,000 seabirds, nearly 3,000 sea otters, 300 harbour seals, 250 bald eagles and up to 22 killer whales died as a result of the spill.
"

And Exxon were permitted (huh!) to repair the hull in the same way: (single bottom) rather that the more recent and safer "double hull" design.

And on behalf of the families of those who died on Piper Alpha; Thanks.

Please, James, do be quiet.

HP you can't argue with an idiot that only wants to stir up shit.

The best thing is to ignore him and let his shit stirring sink to the bottom quickly. If you notice, he had to bump it himself or it would have already been gone.

British? I thought this was classic American school big business economics.

You guys are swimming against public opinion on this one. You may wanna give BP a big wet smoochie but most people wanna hang them.

Ummm, no, wrong on both counts. But I'm not surprised you can't manage nuance.

Hey Reggie, Obama's on teevee talking about BP acting like weasles. Apparently BP isnt paying its local bills.

I guess that makes you the odd-man out...again.

"What I don't want to hear is when they're spending that kind of money on their shareholders and spending that kind of money on TV advertising that they're nickeling and diming fishermen or small businesses here in the Gulf who are having a hard time," President Obozo.

You're proposing this as a bad thing to say?

Come on over to the Dark Side; you will sooner or later cuz BP fucked Obama in the ass and is smirking. Youre powerless to resist once you realize shit sandwiches are all thats on the BP menu.

The only one fucked around here is you and that's in the head. When it comes to shit sandwiches, you are the master chef. In your own mind anyway.

Get a bigger boat paddle, this one ain't working too well. :D

BP is smirking? I think that's the last thing they are doing. Just because they aren't getting it fixed doesn't mean they aren't struggling like hell to get past it. Before this is over I'll bet BP is down the tubes and whether or not its executives walk away with bundles, they'll never live down this event emotionally.

You really think anyone connected with BP is enjoying this? Our local BP station has pickets outside and no cars at the pump. This is going to be their favorite memory from this year?

Gentlemen this is the perfect political storm thats gonna play havoc with both political parties and cut the social fabric into shreds.

Those picketers are morons. Shutting down those stations only hurts the people who own and/or work in them. It's a flea bite on BP's butt cost wise. They want to stop the leak even more than Obeyme wants it stopped. It's costing them big money, but it's costing him and his party approval points and credibility.

Obama's approval points and credibility are zero for you guys no matter what he does or doesn't do, so they can't go any lower.

The rest of us are smarter than that.

I agree that it sucks that BP gas station owners get hit with the local's anger. On the other hand, that kind of misfortune is part and parcel of the Capitalist system. You go out on the ship, you go down with it.

BP unleashed the jinni from the bottle of American discontent. There is something in it for every group to hate passionately. BP stock is going to hell, people are losing jobs, energy we need is now frozen, wildlife and Nature is scourged, and the economic recovery takes a kick in the balls.

BP wont be nice about how it tries to save itself, either.

Bullshit. Americans are going to toodle along and drive their families to the Gulf beaches for their summer vacations this year and wonder why the sand looks a little dark.

Not saying they shouldn't take more notice--just that this concern doesn't rank much higher with most in the upper two thirds than whether or not they're going to be home from the little league game in time to watch "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader" this week.
