Thank you to everyone that has given me advice on my various issues the few days.

As you all know by now, I typically respond to everybody personally.

Unfortunately, my Emergency Response Team has extremely busy these last 48-72 hours.

Line of Severe Storms knocked out Power to over 100,000 Ohio Residents, caused flooding in rivers and streams, and this is on top of the 100+ degree weather.

My team has performed 4 Water Rescues, opened Cooling Centers, responded to house and barn fires from lightning strikes, wellness checks, etc, etc.

We did have 1 fatality, so I implore everyone to tell your family and friends you love them.

I hope that everyone stays cool and stays safe.

Good to hear you're out there to help everyone. Stay safe, and try to stay cool.
Thank you. It's a team effort.

Luckily my house never lost power, so I'm now enjoying the wonderful Central Air.

I don't know who invented CA, but, I'd kiss them on the mouth

As much as I generally find 'preppers' to be silly, I will give them a nod on issues like this - when I got solar power for my house I also got on of those Tesla powerwalls (I hear they finally have competition from Toyota or Samsung I think, so those might get cheaper and more common soon). Power goes out in the community and I don't even notice (normally when power goes out the solar systems also shut off so that workers on the grid don't get electrocuted by power being sent back from solar homes - but if you have a battery you just disconnect from the grid and keep on going).

The battery is also great if storms are keeping your solar from getting much for several days. And the whole system is getting paid for by the electricity I sell back to the grid when things are working fine.

I keep going back and forth on getting Solar Panels. The cost is astronomical right now and the "tax break" is really not that great. From the 7 or 8 people that I've personally spoken to that have them, they say the "savings" are actually offset the maintenance they need.

I personally have a Champion Generator(9,725 Starting Watt/7,500 Running Watt), that can power most of my home, when we do lose power.

With this line of storms, I got lucky and didn't lose power, so while I was out with my team, my wife and daughters were fine.

I got a (geothermal) ground source heat pump. Works well in winter, but in summer it is just the best: pumps up water from 250' down and transfers that nice cool to the air in our house.

That said, solar and one or more giant batteries would be nice.
