It's Cancer.

They have caught it really, really early. Only 5% of the mass is cancerous.

This is Good News then :) This is the best possible scenario one, I guess, can hope for - of course after the diagnosis.
The cancer hasn't metastasized yet; it's still local.

It could have been caught way late. Your husband is--for lack of a better word- lucky.

It is just in his sinuses, it hasn't spread any further. He is incredibly blessed that he was having other work done last year that led to the discovery of this very, very, very early on. It usually isn't picked up until a much later stage.

He started the nasal spray today, we will see how this effects him, I hope it works!

Wonderful ...

to hear it's local and in early stages. I hope the nasal spray is miraculous! :rose::rose:

Good News EL! Keeping my fingers crossed that the spray works!

Great news EL! Modern medicine is wonderful. Keep us posted as Hub continues on his road to recovery.:rose:

I certainly will. :)

The spray stings like hell apparently, hubs started it yesterday but he could feel 'movement' up there, which is a good sign.

Snoop! *hugs* thanks sweetie.

It went well! They did a scan and there was very, very little change in the mass which means the cancer isn't growing much at all -yes!

So the doc is going to treat the mucus/mould mass with a new, powerful nasal spray (we're talking clinical trial new) that hopefully will blast the horrid thing, break it down and be rid of it.

In 4 weeks he'll go in for another scan and if the mass has been broken down they will then treat him with radiotherapy to kill off the cancerous cells.

So there is a good chance he won't have to be operated on which is fantastic!

So it was all good. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts.
That's great news, EL! I've been away for a week and couldn't have been happier to get home, light another candle, and read about the progress.

Talk about divine intervention...

sorry the spray sucks - most cancer treatments suck :( But here's to hoping it kills all those little cancer suckers!

Heh, no cancer killers in this spray. 'This is break down the mucus and mould' spray so that they can go in and shoot the cancer suckers with radiotherapy without having to do an operation.

seems to be doing what it says on the tin. *grins* We'll know more on the 19th when he goes back for another scan. :)

Ahhh, gotcha. He's got so much mucus and mould on there they can't do radiation yet? Eeeeeek!

And I thought colon cancer was gross....

Progress is a great thing :nana:
Take care and may things keep going in the right direction :D

That is exactly it -stomach churning isn't it?

At the old, crappy hospital they said the only thing they could do was operate to remove the mass which is very risky. The guy at the good hospital we're at now says he'll only operate if he really, really, really has too. I'm so glad we got him to a different hospital!

Thanks, love. :)

Keeping everything crossed for you and the boy :rose:

Nasal sprays... yukk can't stand anything being sprayed into any of my orifices :D

Just fired up another candle.

Now I'm caught up on the news.

But I gotta tell you, this typing with my fingers crossed is a chore. :D
