It's Cancer.

My husband got an appointment to go to the decent hospital (we've moved him from the local crappy one. You don't even want to know how awful it is there, it'll give you nightmares! *L*) that he went to when he had his teeth removed. He's going to see their Doctor on the 10th February, Surgery will follow soon after that. :)

Thanks for all good wishes/prayers/good vibes etc.

I must say I'm quite surprised he hasn't had the op already, I though there was a time limit of one month for treatment:

New goals and targets to reduce waiting times for diagnosis and
treatment so that:
– the ultimate goal is that no one should wait longer than one
month from an urgent referral for suspected cancer to the
beginning of treatment except for a good clinical reason or
through patient choice.
From NHS Cancer Plan

You should press for an earlier date.'s

We might be scuppered by the 'patients choice' bit there as he said he didn't want anything to be done until the new year and we've transferred hospitals.

I'm content so far. the cancer is slow, very, very, slow growing. I can see if we can get in earlier, but we can't get in earlier if there's no appointments free. :)

I have been ofline for sometime and have just come accross this messege. My hugs and prayers go out to you EL. Cancer is scary, but as you know it's treatable. You will get through to the other side.

Thanks love, we're taking each day as it comes. :)

Neon, someone at the hospital must have heard you *grins* because a nice lady just rang and asked my husband if he can go in for an appointment at 6.30 pm tomorrow. *grins* they've just had the full notes from the old hospital and seeing that it's sinus cancer the consultant wants to see him ASAP.

Great news, huh? :D

Good news they are speeding stuff up. Good luck with all that.

I'm constantly amazed at how slow things move in hospitals, with patient files and such. If the new place had the patient, shouldn't they at least also have "name of condition" as early as name and number, long before they read the details of the full notes?

You'd think so. However, we only made the appointment on Friday so credit where credit is due they have responded really quickly and that's what counts I think .

:rose: Keeping a good thought for you.

I'll report back after the appointment this evening.

Well, actually it's paranasal sinus cancer, as my husband told me as he walked in the door a few hours ago.

There are treatment options and things are moving forward now, we're keeping positive.

All prayers and good wishes welcome. thank you!

Again what can I say and do, other than re-appear out of my lurking-status and tell you that you are in my thoughts.

*hugs*

Snoop! *hugs* thanks sweetie.

Hope all went well.

Seriously hoping for good news :rose:

It went well! They did a scan and there was very, very little change in the mass which means the cancer isn't growing much at all -yes!

So the doc is going to treat the mucus/mould mass with a new, powerful nasal spray (we're talking clinical trial new) that hopefully will blast the horrid thing, break it down and be rid of it.

In 4 weeks he'll go in for another scan and if the mass has been broken down they will then treat him with radiotherapy to kill off the cancerous cells.

So there is a good chance he won't have to be operated on which is fantastic!

So it was all good. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

Wonderful news El, lets hope the treatment works....we'll keep the candles lit and hugs a plenty!:heart::rose:

3 times over Christmas I heard this particular reading:

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke 1:26-38;&version=31;

And every time I was struck by one line.

"For nothing is impossible with God."

This is my hope right now. :) I was praying yesterday for my husbands appointment, I was worried and scared and a little panicky thinking of what might happen and I just felt a hand on my shoulder and I heard God saying. "Trust me." and then that verse that says "I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not to harm you" and I felt so much more at peace.

And look at the last post to see how that worked out. I trusted God and he's given us great hope. :)

Prayer is powerful stuff, isn't it?

Alas, good news. Let's hope this turns out the way we all want it. I'm certain that our combined good thoughts will alone struck this mass down.

:)
