Hey everyone,

I am doing some research into enemas and have found quite a lot of useful information about the practicalities and equipment required.

I have read a little about emena play but I think that my Master and I would be using one for hygene purposes initially, to clean before sex.

So in order that I gain a wider picture of the pros and the cons of enema use for cleaning, please share any opinion or tips you have in using them.
I am a little concerned about cramping but moreso about any potential health implications... though I have also read that they can often improve a persons health.

Please tell me about your experiences too, good and bad.

Thanks for your help guys :rose:

I personally don't believe they can improve a persons health, unless that person has serious constipation issues and if that is the case then they should be using something other than an enema on a regular basis.

I use a Fleets enema. The only cramping I have felt is right after use, the cramping that tells youit is doing it's job and it is time to get off the fllor and sit on the toilet. For me the effects work in about 5-10 minutes. I have just for the fun of it tried to see if I could hold out through the pain for 15-20 minutes. I lasted a little more than 15 and did end up ith a cramping stomach for a while afterwards.

I find it works better than plain water or soapy water. I make sure I use it at least 4 hours before anal sex to allow my ass to recover a bit. It is also very important to drink LOTS of water afterwards because it works by pulling water into your lower digestive tract. I also don't use it more than twice within 24 hrs and more than twice per week. If I need to make sure I am clean between times than I do use a glycerin suppository and then plain water enema.

I know some people don't go through all this or have a need to. But my Dom insists on me being clean and he likes ATM so the cleaner I am, the better for me. I also have lower digestive system issues so I need to.

That's just my own experience.

There are a couple of threads around with some excellent advice in, and as I am in a rush I will recommend them as backup and also give a quick answer. Try to avoid regular use of enemas as in daily etc., as it can lead to the body becoming lazy and no longer working without that help...and also risks the introduction of bad bacteria. Also be aware that enemas can rob the body of much needed body salts (electrolytes etc.) which can be helped by additives in the enema or careful replacement before and after through drinks and/or supplements. The downside of the depletion of these products is you may feel light headed or nauseous sometimes after an enema, but it can be handled well with prevention measures. Have fun.:rose:

Thanks ecstaticsub thats just the kind of advice I am looking for.

Can I ask do you usually administer them yourself or is it something you do with your Master? Were you nervous the first time? I guess a little apprehension is normal though....

Yes thanks Cat I will! :rose:

...I did find a couple of threads and they were really useful thanks Cat. In fact I am finding lots of practical info ....It would be really useful to hear some personal experiences/comments (good and bad) too so I get a balanced view. I respect peoples opinions around here, afterall you have far more experience than me and I'm a coward when it comes to some things! *laugh*

I administer them myself. I am a pharmacist so I wasn't worried about the effects from a medical/physical standpoint plus like I said I have had serious digestive system issues (chronic IBS-constipation and a repaired rectocele) and have used them LOTS of times.

I have had fantasies of my Dom giving them to me or other anal play such as golden ememas etc but we haven't gotten to that point yet. Since I live a plane trip away from him I usually give myself one an hr before I leave for the airport and that way my body calms down before playing. Sometime the Fleets can make my lower colon a little spastic.

hey minx

I just did a fast search and came up with this page....hope it may shed some light for you:
http://www.wartenbergwheel.com/enemas.htm

They seem to sell just about every possible aid for enemas, and there is a toll free number quoted that maybe could offer advice?

Good luck.

Minxy...

You really don't need to buy fancy stuff for this. The simple "enema equipment" you find in your local pharmacy will work quite well.

As far as practical experience, i tend to get a little "barfy" feeling as i am administering it, but it goes away quickly.

There are fleets enemas which are pre-filled bottles and then there are soap suds enemas which is a bucket and a long plastic tube. You use warm water and castille soap and take in as much as you can hold and hold it for 5-10 minutes.

Word of caution..as always.. is be gentle. One of my first patients right out of nursing school was a man who routinely gave himself fleets enemas and accidentally perferated his colon one time - leading to peritonitis... other medical complications from the surgery needed to drain the abcesses, the temporary colonostomy he needed to keep the fecal material from getting into the wounds as they healed, eventually lead to other, more serious issues that are non-enema related.

So even if you and your Master are well versed in giving them.. please be careful and use lube and introduce it carefully.

No disrespect intended, but actually Fleet's are not a good choice. The sodium phosphate in them is actually irritating to the bowel - this is part of how they work. The theory is that if you irritate the bowel a little bit, it will contract and expel its contents. But more often than not, they simply cause severe cramping and have not been proven to be any more or less effective than plain or soapy water. (Castile soap is also no longer common for the same reasons - bowel irritation and it's not more/less effective anyway.)

So unless you like severe cramping (YKIOK!), it's recommended that you only buy ONE Fleet's, dump the contents out, and then reuse the bottle with plain water. That can get expensive, though, so the $24 "Two Quart Enema Bag Kit" at the link bandelero provided is a good choice if you plan to do this more than a couple of times. (Actually, I suspect that store is just a front for MedicalToys.com which is a great place to find any kind of medical play items! They also have tips and information about enema play.)

I have never administered them to myself, but the procedure C. and I usually follow is to lube the nozzle tip and slide it in, empty the bag slowly, and hold for a set period of time. (If it's for cleaning, just until I feel ready; if it's for punishment, usually far longer!) Then go to the toilet and release - I prefer to have C. there for this part, and I usually get my way on this, we find it intimate - and if there's still more left, we repeat the process until everything comes out clear. And then I wash the nozzle and equipment VERY VERY well, since we use them repeatedly. :)

By the way, it is inadvisable to use anything but water or prepared enema solution in an enema. If you use dairy products, your house will stink to high heaven for weeks - trust me on this one! If you use alcohol, it is easy to reach toxic levels without realizing it, because it is absorbed much faster rectally. I've heard of coffee enemas, but I don't know much about them; this page has some info on them. Oh, and NEVER use anything more than warm liquid, because if you use actual HOT liquid...well let's just say that I imagine a scalded rectum and bowel would be more pain/risk than the harshest sadist would have planned for!

Hopefully we can get Netzach in here, I know she knows far more about enemas than I do!

One of the things that makes me EXTREMELY grateful that I gave up nursing.... giving and cleaning up after enemas. Between using them as preps for induced pregnancies to pre op/pre-procedural to patient being constipated... I have too many from '89 to '96.. WAY too many...

The enemas I had before i delivered my oldest were HORRIBLE. i refused it when i went in to have my 1 yr old.

I am going to hazard a guess that a pre-birth enema is very different from an erotic enema. :)

I'd hope so.. there was still lots of moaning..but I dont think it was the same type...:).. same stuff though..well back then we used 1000cc of lukewarm water with castile soap..

pre op was usually 1-2 bottles of fleets enemas.. usually..

most "procedures" were SSE's

aww listen guys, thanks very much for all the comments so far. I am just popping in briefly at the moment but will definitely come back later or in the morning to reply! I will also like my Master to the thread.

Thanks again :)

Also minx, in my haste yesterday I forgot to emtion you should be able to buy an enema kit (reuseable) in any pharmacy...at least I did in Queensland and still use it. Lot cheaper than going through toy stores online or in the mall.

Hi Etoile-- I have seen your opinion on Fleets once before. I would agree that Fleets are not a good choice if you are going to use them often. However, they are more effective than water for a one time quick use. Not only do they work by irritating the colon (which is how glycerin suppositories work also) but they also work by pulling water into the bowel. Water won't work that way.

The way you describe using the enema bag with C, I would totally agree would be the preferred method for punishment or if plenty of time was available. (it also sounds like something I would want to do).

In my own opinion this is something that will greatly depend on a persons own body and thier reaction to different enemas. When my daughter was a very young child she had some severe anal retentive issues and I was told by a pediatric GI specialist to use milk and molasses enemas on her. They were very effective but extremely messy.

What I try to do is eat very lightly and drink lots and lots of fluids in the 24 hrs before hand. I think the directions on the Fleets say to hold for up to 15 min. As I said earlier I usuallyonly hold it for 5 or so minutes. I would never recommend a Fleets to be used for a punishment enema. (that's why I tried to hold it longer the one time just to see what would happen)

I have used a Fleets well over 100 times (in 20 or so years) I am sure and have never had cramps that lasted more than 10 minutes after evacuating. The only problem I have ever had was a case of diarrhea but that probably was not due to the emema but do to other causes.

So I would say I agree that water is best for enema play, but I still like a Fleets if a fast, effective cleansing is necessary.

Thanks Cat and thankyou for the links too :rose:

I will definitely take a look when tomorrow when I have more time and my brain isn't as frazzled. lol

Thanks thats interesting ecstaticsub. Is it not risky to be on a plane an hour later or has everything pretty much been expelled my then? Is it immediate

Yes, it is immediate. Each bottle is a 118 ml delivered dose. I usually don't squeeze in all of it, but most of it over about a minute. Then I lay either on my left side or my chest to the floor/butt up. Or back and forth between the two positions to mix it around :). After about 5 minutes I feel stronge urges to evacuate. I usually count to ten after they begin to make sure and then sit on the toilet and I go. Once in a while I feel I am not totally empty and then I refill the enema bottle with some water just to wash things out but I don't hold the water in. When I have done that (held the water in ) I seem to not be able to expell the water all the way. Not sure why.

BTW, my spasticy colon I mean it is not painful or even uncomfortable and not crampy just not quite ready right away for penetration. That's why I do it early. Though, thinking about it now, I have done repeats 24hrs later and had anal sex almost immediately without problems. /shrugs/ Sometimes I think my colon has a mind of it's own. LOL

(oh, and my plane ride is about 4 hours long and I've never had diarrhea or other issues in flight)

I have updated Our Bodies, Our Brains thread to include some links and safety advice I had on enemas. Might also be worth reading and linking to the sites as I didn't post all their content and some have quite an extensive sharing of knowledge and important points such as when it can prove fatal and why.

Actually Etoile knows more about enemas than I do, being a much more frequent recipient!

My sweetie swears by the bag and some castille soap. He must like cramping, I guess. I just like to insert and hold he tube. All the enemas I've done have been warm water or warm water and a little castille, and I tend not to hang around for the voiding and my partners have tended not to want me to. I also don't play around with alcohol with this, in spite of the interest of a few bottoms - I just don't roll that way and I'm sure there are pros who have figured out how to do it without killing people, I just never had that much interest.

One pro I know of, though, was a huge fan of a small amount of glycerin administered with a syringe as a fast cleaning out - anyone have any mileage with that? I've never been a suppository kinda gal from regular life- all I have to do is eat some prunes and take a walk and my suffering is over.

I've only tried these a couple times for Him, even though he doesn't require them. I don't remember what brand it was, but I used something pre-bottled from the store. It was already lubricated too. :) Everything was fine, but it made me really sick for hours afterwards. Not sure if I did anything wrong, or what, but we won't be trying those again!

I think this is something quite common as I also have been ill afterwards, but not each time and not with any particular method, just seems bad timing more than anything.
