Any statement of all of anything is almost certainly wrong.

In this case, I strongly believe that most people go into politics with good intentions. It is very hard to maintain your integrity and need to keep running for a seat.

I believe Jimmy Carter kept his integrity to his dying day. You can argue with how effective he was as a President, but I seriously doubt the integrity of anyone who seriously questions his. I have known some high level politicians who were more honest than most people I know.

Honest politicians mostly lose because voters don't like honesty. They want to be told that every problem is the fault of the near-outgroup and that the large man will make it all better.

I disagree with you. If you check the financial records of people before they go into politics and when they retire, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, sleepy Joe, Mitch McConnell etc ad nauseam you will see they all retire as multi millionaires. Actually 'public servant' is the oxymoron

Most of those I agree with as being dishonest. Retiring as a multi-millionaire is not what it used to be. If you want a middle class level retirement, you need to have a minimum of a few million in your retirement accounts. Biden has an estimated worth of under $10 million. Which is in line with a family income averaging around 250K over a very long career.

Why's that surprising? I'd expect that if a guy takes a job with a six-figure salary and a bunch of perks and works at it from 35 to 75, he probably ought to be pretty wealthy.

Don't know if this is controversial actually, but am interested to know.

Someone cheating on me would end any relationship. Doesn't matter if it's been years or however much we both loved each other still. It's not a matter of forgiveness, that could probably be given. It's a matter of never being able to fully trust the person again. So friends after? Maybe in time. But that would be the limit.

Writer's guilt exists. When your 1P or close 3P character does something so horrible that it feels almost as if you actually did it. (This was brought home with Yes Ma'am in my Erotic Horror story Dead Together.)

What about 2 no name throw away characters threatening something vile to your MC? Or the main villain in a story? Struggling with that.

I don't doubt this exists for some, but not for me. I feel no guilt whatsoever about what my characters do.
