LGBTQIA+ Daily Vibe II

The contrast between Literotica and FetLife is striking, and interesting.
  • Yes, the average age here on Lit seems to be significantly older. As an elder, I kind of appreciate that. On the one hand, I really enjoy being around and talking with younger people (and being accepted by them!); on the other hand, some territories in FetLife are absolutely ageist.
  • Yes, there seems to be more sociopolitical consciousness — and conscience— on FetLife than here, especially around gender and racial issues.
  • On the other hand, FetLife also has some of the most virulent right-wing, sexist, fascist, racist, and transphobic groups I've ever seen. And it appears to me that that includes a significant portion of the management.
  • Interesting what you say about “easier to hide here.” I've gotten that impression too, though I don't really understand why that is.
  • No matter what segment of population you identify with, there are a lot more gatekeepers on FetLife, and a lot more ensuing rancor. A lot more combative people in general.
  • Bottom line, for me: I go to FetLife for serious conversations about sociopolitical issues. I come here to have fun and feel safe.
I looked at Fetlife once, after StellaOmega bailed there, but the place scared the hell out of me. Lit might be cranky but it won't bite off your face

I could not agree more. I have been burned on FL in the past. But, I am on FL. I build a barrier around myself and block the degenerates, fascists, racists and people who heap vile judgments on anyone.
I am there for the pictures posted by crossdressers of themselves. Real pictures of real men who really crossdress. The rest is of no interest to me. That feature is not available on Lit as far as I can tell.
@liqueur Hope you are doing well.

Lit is tiptoeing through the conservative nanny minefield of online 'porn'. There has been a total purge of erotic images hosted on their server and anything must be http-linked. Step out of line with underage, personal disclosure, etc and expect to be banned... with little sympathy from regular users. No one wants to lose this site

So, I'm pretty sure I exist in a bubble on FetLife.

It's possibly due to my location. I'm in South Jersey, 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia and less than 2 hours from NYC. I don't have to step outside of of the very sissy/transbian/gay haven that I've made there.

I don't give much attention to guys there unless they have more than a cock pic. Which is RARE. Politics are a given, but most people talk about their worries with the current admin. Some of the girls like showing off their armory. CDs and trans that voice support for the current admin get blocked and forgotten.

Fascists, racists, and mouthy conservatives get blocked.

It's mostly everyone being shameless exhibitionists, sharing memes, and showing off pics from the local meet and greets or their hookups.

I've made some excellent real life friends from the site and very rarely get to see the nasty side that people talk about.

I think a huge part of the problem is that it's a kink focused social media site, not a hookup site or a forum like Lit. People treat Fet like an anonymous hookup site like Adult Friend Finder (some success) or Grindr.

And the fact that it's a social media site and people don't expect that

But like I said, I'm pretty sure I exist in a bubble.

Being trans I’m not allowed to play women’s rugby. Having watched the World Cup final I’m quite okay with that! There were some scary women playing 😳🏉 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
England v Canada. England won 🏆

Makes me curious, I may have to explore some treacherous territory over there....

If you go there, please come see me. Same username. Not that I'm as active there as I once was. Acrimony whore me down (auto-correct chose that word for me... I left it— figured they knew better than me). But anyway, you can find some very cool people by mining my friends and followees lists (ignore the followers list— it's pretty random). And I'd love to have another friend there.

You won't be able to follow this link without being a member there, but it's something I wrote that might interest you: “Growing up genderqueer in the 50s and 60s

Trying to wash all this dried blood from my hair and scalp. Stuff is worse than concrete. So it's not going well. Surgeon's office was all like "just soak it with hydrogen peroxide to soften then comb out." Uh no, 1, I've pulled a handful of staples already trying that and caused a lot of additional bleeding, and 2, I am allergic to peroxide, I can not get it on my skin, it blisters and is very painful. They'll most likely have to scrape it all off and re-staple my scalp at my next follow up, no way will I be able to clean it before the 6th. The person that was supposed to help me wash it out the day I was released noped out when they saw all the stitches and staples and ooze, they got all grossed out. I won't even mention how they are my "caregiver" during recovery, but can't be bothered to do anything cause they don't feel like it. Trying to figure out why I am even still married to this person.

Listening too: nothing

I'm back home after time in the city. I needed to check in with my doctor, renew some scripts, and general fun an frolicking 💥🏔️
I was in the museum and here is a piece I really enjoyed, 'Our Lady of Amchitka'

Wearing: a thrifted long, gothy black skirt (I love it!) and deep red asymmetrical top....
Mood: hmmm, mostly tired
Listening to: swishy wind noises

Greetings, everyone.

I have returned from an amazing week-long motorcycle road trip through the highlands and some charming, mildly isolated villages. It was such an invigorating experience. Nothing beats the freedom of the open road and the stunning landscapes we encountered.
I’m already plotting my next road trip, but it will be on a completely different register.

On top of that, I’m also getting involved in a Pink October initiative next weekend, participating / being part of the organisation in a charitable motorcycle ride for cancer patients. It’s truly been a busy time since my last post.

Wearing: oversized flannel shirt and soft joggers, paired with fluffy socks.
Mood: creatively energised
Listening to: Purple Disco Machine – Dream Machine

OMG! This sounds soooo nice, and who doesn't love fluffy socks?

Your road trip sounds pretty awesome, more so because it was on a motorcycle!

Nothing beats them when you get home, chilled to the bone (weather was overall nice, but got caught up in the rain on the final stretch) and dive into a cosiness cocoon to ward off the cold.

The trip was excellent, thank you. No incidents to speak of. Some rookies took part as well, they were stellar in their integration and driving with the rest of us. It is a solid group. We tend to get together for these kinds of trips. As we are based in Europe, we drive all over the place. Next year, we have some pretty sweet destination(s) lined up. Fingers crossed.

A group ride sounds so much fun! I went to pride in Portland Oregon this summer and the lead to the parade was 'dykes on bikes'
I was so envious! Part of me wants to be a dyke on a bike now 🏍️

There was a trans woman on lit going back a couple of years who going to take off on her bike. Not sure if she was lesbian ?! She was ex military though. Haven’t heard from her since.

Our touring group rides are never too crowded - seven motorcycles tops, solo rider and/or backpack, elevating the participants number to a maximum of fourteen, if complete. It's a restricted group, only women. We haven't had a trans member join us yet that I am aware if, but we are from all flavours of the spectrum - gay, bi, straight - that I'm sure wouldn't make any difference. We just want to ride and have fun, go to awesome places.

The Sunday ride is an exception (we got to a whopping 130 vehicles in the very last hours and around 150 participants), as it is in partnership with several entities, all with their own contributions to the event. The proceeds from the enrollment fee go entirely to a fund destined to cancer patients / treatments.

We also have the police backup for traffic flow and several activities / workshops set up, such as make-up booths for cancer patients, vouchers for micropigmentation sessions / tattooing, a defensive crash course for solo riders, food stalls and music.

As part of the organisation team, we aim to provide a spectacularly different day to these people, show that there is life after and during cancer, that even with such trying situations, they are not alone.

I don't think I knew her or even recall ever crossing paths with her, so I can't shed any light on that subject.
