Idk, but Discord is blocking naughty pics for Brits that yanks can still see. Is geoblocking easy to prove or will they take it on trust?

Apparently Discord already have to age verify to see naughty pics...
Including in servers...
This has happened to me as well as a number of other people that I know and the third party that Discord has hired to check ages has opted for the most instrusive forms of ID verification possible.Idk, but Discord is blocking naughty pics for Brits that yanks can still see
Sooner or later, people are going to figure out what this is really all about.has opted for the most instrusive forms of ID verification possible.
I thought audio content was one of the things that was covered so I don't understand what 'in scope' means otherwise.I'm optimistic the age verification requirement from the UK Online Safety Act will not apply to Literotica because there is a specific carve-out for text-only pornography in the law, from what I can tell (others can feel free to Google it too, but that seems to be the case unless I'm missing something, which is certainly possible). Here's the guidance from Ofcom, the UK regulator: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/siteassets...blishing-pornographic-content-online?v=393629
Relevant section:What pornographic content falls outside of Part 5?3.8 Not all pornographic content is included under the definition of regulated providerpornographic content. The following content is expressly excluded:i) Pornographic content that is user-generated content in relation to an internetservice;ii) Pornographic content that-• consists only of text, or• consists only of text accompanied by –> a GIF which is not itself pornographic content,> an emoji or other symbol, or> a combination of (i) and (ii);
Lit already purged nude images (in response to these kinds of laws, I think) but audio content is included as "in scope" in the UK law, which could lead to complications, but I'm also just a person on the internet, so what do I know.
Lit does not host nude pics (although they're doing a shit job of removing nude AVs) and it doesn't host audioI thought audio content was one of the things that was covered so I don't understand what 'in scope' means otherwise.
It also has pictures. There are illustrated stories, or have those been purged.
Furthermore the site has, or links to at least, cam content.
I guess the site owners know best
Besides what does
i) Pornographic content that is user-generated content in relation to an internet
service;
mean?
Surely that's all such content, right?
My understanding, which is admittedly limited, is that this refers to platforms including search engines and "user-to-user" apps/sites like Discord where users can share pornographic content directly with other users. The distinction there is that the pornographic content isn't created or curated by the site. They're subject to a different part of the law (Part 3) that has a different set of requirements which also includes age verification along with a slew of other things that got too complicated for me to want to parse too much![]()
Oof yeah you're totally right, thanks for pointing that out, my (big) mistakeIt's not "User-to-user" in the sense of p2p. It's more in the sense of "User-FOR-user". Content created by users, shared through the service for other users. Or, as it the case here, stories written by users, shared with visitors of the platform.
Are you sure? There are illustrated stories as well as audio stories that include masturbation/orgasm.Lit does not host nude pics (although they're doing a shit job of removing nude AVs) and it doesn't host audio
Ahhh, I don't know the story side of the siteAre you sure? There are illustrated stories as well as audio stories that include masturbation/orgasm.
I was sure those fall under the remit of the act. I hope I'm wrong

YesSo is anyone having issues accessing restricted sites that were previously unrestricted (Pornhub etc)?
Same. This country never gets anything right, does it? This shit won't protect kids at all. Kids are most at risk from bullying by their peers
I would guess so. Try using a VPN and see if it still says thatHi all. Have not read the whole thread. Is this issue why the audio stories all say `not available in your region ‘ D
I just checked this. Yes... looks like lit have blocked audio access for UK users. When I connected via vpn on a Netherlands server it was fine.Hi all. Have not read the whole thread. Is this issue why the audio stories all say `not available in your region ‘ D
I think the UK is already finding out. The Starmer government is now censoring online videos of the anti-government protests. So the UK is now basically China.Sooner or later, people are going to figure out what this is really all about.
