Huge parental rights win.

Me too! Hi!

I think it was Saint Ann (?) that said that?

It’s like a soap opera but apparently luuk used to date saint ann when she was called karen katfish?
Hello! Welcome to Lit!

Somebody said something in a thread and people believed it was gospel. So I've read, anyway. I love a good drama thread, don't you?

I guess you two have never heard of Jazz Jennings.

Jazz Jennings was 17 years old when she underwent her first gender confirmation surgery, which included bottom surgery, in June 2018.

I think people who are legally allowed to make decisions for themselves as adults should be able to do whatever they want to themselves.

🙄

I stand "corrected"…There is ONE "example", and it’s a reality TV "star" who was SEVENTEEN at the time (the age of consent in many states is SIXTEEN) who’s doctors went against medical guidelines that recommend a patient be eighteen.

😑

To be fully accurate / transparent , there are far more gender ASSIGNMENT surgeries performed on ACTUAL minors who express both male AND female sex organs at birth, where the doctors and family make the decision which gender to ASSIGN to the child.

Should the government have a say in those cases too???

🤔

😑

Interestingly, in the past, doctors generally SURGICALLY ASSIGNED the gender of “true hermaphrodites” (a term no longer in use - replaced by “intersex”) as male, when they SHOULD have surgically assigned them as female.

From PubMed:

“True hermaphroditism is a rare form of intersex anomaly where both male and female gonads are present. True hermaphrodites diagnosed in the past have been preferentially reared as males. However, based on the appearance of their external genitalia and the ability to reconstruct a functional genitourinary system, most of these children should be raised as girls.”

😳

Weird…

😑

And here’s a really good read on intersex and gender identification (and misidentification) in YOUNG CHILDREN (not SEVENTEEN YEAR OLDS):

https://isna.org/faq/gender_assignment/

😳

Hope that ^ helps.

Are you talking about the men who don’t wear shirts and the ones in panties shaking their dicks?

Those are the Democrats, right?
I've only browsed a few threads out of idle curiosity. I'm not really that invested in trying to prove someone is something they may or may not be. But boy I sure do see a lot of sockpuppet references.

It got me thinking. You don't know who's on the other side of a Username or if you're even talking to the same person you thought you were talking to. Neat, huh? Then I wondered if people who become good friends start DMing each other and get the idea to create an account, maybe even more than one, that they all had the password to.

That's probably just silly.

She's a Floridian.

You're a minor until you aren't.

By taking the focus off of learning how to read, do basic math, physical education.
It does nothing of the kind. If some other kid in your class is transgendered, that does not affect your ability to learn -- nor does it affect his/hers. And I would have thought you would find phys.ed. of transgenders objectionable -- that just leads to them playing girls' sports.

🙄

And YOU are an idiot until YOU aren’t…

😑

ONE random case involving a SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD "celebrity" who convinced ONE doctor to SLIGHTLY go against RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES (not laws) does NOT support whatever the fuck YOU are trying to assert.

😑

Side note:

I notice the rest of my post went unaddressed…

Weird…

My assertion, and the only point I care to address is that she was a minor at the time of the surgery. And you sure are trying awfully hard to downplay that fact.

Is every surgery published as news? No. Only when it's newsworthy. We have no idea if other similar surgeries have been performed because people are very fond of their privacy.

I’m downplaying nothing.

I’m highlighting your (and others’) stupidity, hyperbole, & exaggeration.

Yes “people ARE VERY fond of their PRIVACY”…

You’re sooooo close to getting it…

There’s all kinds of things American Society says you cannot do or decide for yourself until you are 16,17,18,19 or 21.

None of those things is as serious as having your genitals chopped off and reconfigured.

Well okay, enlisting to kill people and getting married are possibly just as insane.

It shouldn’t be allowed for children… and in the rare cases where life or death is at stake its the parents decision unless theres a compelling reason for a court to appoint a guardian ad litem.

That’s the way parent child stuff has worked and I dont see why drag queens reading you stories at the library should create a dick chopping exception.

Yeah, because a kid just decides one day they want their “genitals chopped off and reconfigured”; their parent just say “OK”; the parents and their kid just go to the “dick chopping” surgeon who just says “OK” - and snip snip stitch, just like that, it’s done…

😑

You know very well that's not how it goes. What's the rush? Why can't they wait til they're legally allowed to make the decision themselves?

You are one of the people here who brings up “ The Rules” here in a definitive/strident way…. How is this any different than age of consent ?

Lol

“they” DO “wait” when it comes to the surgery and “they” DID do it “legally”.

This ^ gaslighting is really all about denying minors NON-SURGICAL gender care:

The radical right puts the focus on a non-issue / non-problem (gender reassignment surgery among minors), and then uses that non-issue / non-problem to expand the restrictions on minors getting access to other gender related care.

👎

Hormone therapy should wait. Give the body time to grow and the mind time to grow and sort itself out. Parents can still be supportive of their child's desires in all other ways. They have the final say on what goes into the child's body because they are personally responsible for the care of that child. They decide whether or not the kid can have a flu shot too. If Mom and Dad decided I was going to the doctor, I didn't have a whole lot of say in it. Until I became a legal adult.

It's not ok unless it's ok with the parents first.

You seriously uninformed fuckwit:

The Tennessee Law (and others) that the SCOTUS just upheld gives the government veto power over the PARENTS.

😑

The Tennessee Law (and others) that the SCOTUS just upheld gives the government veto power over the PARENTS.
So the PARENTS are not allowed to use hormone therapy on their underdeveloped kid? What other things do you think PARENTS shouldn't be able to do?

I don't live in Tennessee so my opinion is undoubtedly different. This is a serious issue for PARENTS, who should be very concerned with what goes into their precious child's body. Hormone therapy, in my very personal, not so humble opinion, is a very radical decision for someone whose body is still developing. I have never met the people that want to be able to do this to their kid. I don't think it's a good idea, but if the PARENTS think it's ok, then it's ok.

Intelligent states understand gender euphoria

Intelligent people know that it is called gender dysphoria.

Gender dysphoria has many causes and among those causes are treatable mental conditions. Up until the fad of 'acceptance' started in the past twenty years these folks would get treatment for their problems and their symptoms such as self loathing manifesting as hating their male/female identity would also be resolved.

Now that these people are 'accepted' and therapists refuse to treat them for suicidal ideations if such treatment would also affect their male/female identity the suicide rate for them has gone up precipitously.

An anecdotal indicator of the failure of the mental health community to treat these people is seen in the uptick of mass shooters who are also 'trans'. I am not saying that their 'trans' issue is causing the mass shootings, not at all. I am saying that there exists now a trend in the mental heath community to decline to treat these people and to go along with the popular trend and just say that they're fine the way they are.

The assumption that just because someone claims to be trans means they are in perfect mental health is a failure of the mental health community to stand up against a popular trend for the best interests of their individual patients.

And in this I am saying that not every 'trans' identifying person needs to be transitioned. A good many of them are violently lashing out because transitioning them did not address their underlying mental problems.

I can remember when Lit Libs were all crying about "The General Welfare Clause" and claiming it means the gov could prevent anyone from doing things which THEY deem are detrimental to both society and individuals.
