Nude Day 2025 Contest Thread

I am disappointed that more people didn’t use the “Nude Day 2025” story tag. The results of the tag gives more information than the story list.

I am happy with the variety of stories being published, though. Great job, everyone!
I completely forgot about that. Doing an advanced search for "Nude Day" for stories published in the past month should give similar results though (the phrase "Nude Day", not the words "nude" and "day"!). I'm trying not to obsess about votes and scores, so I've been happy to just cruise around the competition list and look for interesting stories to read.

Aaaaaand I must have fallen off the new stories hub. My story has stopped moving: 24 hours and no more votes. Very few new views.

That's fine. I'm happy with it. A shade over 10k people have found it in Toys And Masturbation, which is a very unusual category for me.

Same here - suddenly there's very little movement. I guess that relatively few people find these stories through the competition story list? My story is relatively long for me (25K words) and a bit nichey, so it wasn't getting heavy traffic, but it's had a very nice response from those who have read it. All good.

Outside of this board, very few people even know of the contests. Do they know about the contest lists at all?

Most early views probably come from the 'New' list for each category. Some come from followers.

The few times I've entered Contests, I reckon there might be a 10% pick up in Views once the story has moved off the Category front page. I put that down to folk finding the story from the Contest or Anthology list and coming in from there. I also found the score would drop with that longer tail, which I put down to readers wandering in, outside their usual category of choice, and saying, "Ooo, I don't like that" and slinging you a 3 or a 4, instead of their usual "fun times five". It got to the point where I rarely bother.

It's the top line on the "News" paragraph for the site homepage, with a link to the stories.

I've always doubted anyone actually reads the "News" paragraph...

I do think the site wants to let people know a contest is happening. I think they publicize it on Twitter and Bluesky, though I'm not really on either of those. I mostly think they're just not all that good at publicity, in general.

I know that change is slow, but I wondered about suggesting that every contest story has a live link at the top to the contest page?

Another contributing factor is followers. They get notified of your submission and, I bet, tend to vote higher than the average reader as they like (usually, tho there are hate- followers out there) your style/work/themes. They see and read earlier than others as well.

I question whether that matters all that much.

My new submission eased toward 75 votes, total. I don't expect it to get too many more; if it ever gets to 100, I'll be pleasantly surprised. And yet? I've got over 2100 followers.

You'd think they'd all get the info about my new submission, flock over to the site, and immediately mash 5 stars. Clearly, that's not even coming close to happening.

Until I started writing, I had no idea we got notifications about authors we followed. I just used it as a list of people I liked. Maybe I was just clueless, but I suspect we authors are so much more aware of what the site does than the average reader, who views this just as a place where stories appear sporadically.

I also did not know there even was a tagging system until I saw the option on the author form. I did not use them until Laurel added some on my second or third story when she bounced it back to me (appropriately).

I was at least vaguely aware of the contests though.

As this is the first contest I have entered, I have been surprised by the lack of views it seems to have brought. The first four days after my entry posted were actually a drop off in my rate of gaining followers, which only picked back up when another story of mine posted.

I must me a glutton for punishment! Trying to get my act together to get my current outing done for:

Heroism - The Oggbashan Memorial Event 2025

I stirred a good friend up to turn a seed of an idea into a fully fleshed story, which then boomeranged back to make me look in the greenhouse of stories previously planted, but not brought into full bloom and found one lurking in there that is ready to ripen with the sprinkling of a few more words. "The Stripper" may yet make the deadline for Nude Day 2025. Yah for me, making myself more work..:giggle:

Both of my recent ones are well over 100 votes and 5,000 views, but haven't scored very well.

Almost all of that tallied in the first 3 or 4 days with far less adding on after dropping off the New page.

It's possible my length scares people off.

No pun intended.

When I looked in the first set of stories for the contest, you were one of the four ones over 25K, along with me, ActingUp and SilkStockingsLover.

There are theories floating that longer stories get higher ratings, but fewer votes (per view). It makes intuitive sense to me -- the longer story bores a certain set of readers who just close the page, not voting. If they make it to page 8 (or whatever), they are more vested in the story.

I am amazed at how different the votes/view and comments/view are between categories, as well as the number of views you get per category, which does not surprise me as much.

^^^ My intro to this type of story was the Penthouse Letters and Variations type story. More first person, almost a diary type account of an event and rarely more than a few paragraphs. That's what stuck. If I see a story is going to be over 4 pages, I don't even start reading it. My nonsense rarely crosses 6K words.

Tiafell and The Desnudo Forest is live!

Tiafell and his companions are on an important journey to the Echoing Mountains. However, to get there, they must pass through the “Desnudo Forest”, a mysterious forest inhabited by fairies who only allow people to enter if they are naked.

What crazy adventures await them inside this strange forest? You’ll have to read to find out!

Heidi just happened to get put at the top of the page on the New list for EC.

At this particular moment in time, it's the only one with a Red H (with 27 votes), though others have 5s, but apparently not 10 votes.
