I agree with the suggestions made, including the present/past tense issue. Just one extra comment.... last year, there were an average of 165 stories published per day. That's an incredible load for Laurel to handle, and she has to try and maintain high standards with minimal time for detailed feedback. Please don't take any rejections personally - work with the process as best you can, and it helps keep the site running (and free for us to participate in).

I was happy with my comment I got tonight on my entry. I don't think this is my best story, but I think it is my best-crafted story, which is what I am focusing on now. This may be my favorite comment I have ever gotten on any story.

I enjoyed this story very much. Those characters are great, interesting, likable, a bit flawed, and certainly very well developed. The plot was masterful, believable, and sensitively done.

I have an "interesting" scene in mind where two nude characters are riding together and one of them decides to take advantage of the situation.

In my relative "seniority" I'm resigned to the high reads/low vote counts knowing well that the general LitE audience is not really interested in my style, which is narrative and mostly about relationships and not so much the sex. What the contests do is get you exposure (oh, okay, that's a pun considering the subject), and score high or low, you will have doubtless garnered a new fan or two or three.

Nudity needs to be a central theme of the story. It doesn't matter whether it's public or private. I've done both with good success.

After the first day, or once your story falls off the first page of new stories, it doesn't really matter. By then, the numbers are fairly set and changes are far slower.

Yours stayed there for 2 1/2 days while mine fell off after two days.

No problem! It's a fairly easy standard to meet; you needn't reference "National Nude Day" in your story, either. But my experience suggests that readers will punish a story that only barely meets a contest theme.

From what you described, it sounds fine. Especially if the Unknown Watcher is only Unknown Watching when the protagonist is nude, and is not interested when they are clothed. That would make the theme obvious to any reader.

You still have time to have an editor go over it. Based on your previous sample, it's likely to be some very simple formatting that won't really change your style.

Finally finished writing mine, content-wise. Between work and life, it's been hard to find the time to write for long stretches.

Now for the heavy editing and proofreading phase. I haven't had any luck in finding an editor, so I've been learning to do it myself while searching for one. I'm off the next two days so I expect to have it posted by Friday and hopefully live during the weekend.
