Nude Day 2025 Contest Thread

Who told you that? Do you agree? If not, leave it as it is and get it published. If whoever it is right, readers will soon tell you.

I mostly agree. It was from an author I trust, not a random reader.

However, at the moment it seems to be doing okay, albeit getting a very large number of reads but proportionately very few votes relative to my normal in-canon stories. That's indicative of many click-outs, which was something I had commented on in the reader retention thread.

The problem with the story is the universe is a little complicated, with currently about 15 "permanent" characters not counting the walk-ons. I tried to introduce or define the players, but without enough development of the, again, complex relationships. I fully understand that without minimal familiarity with the series it's easy to get lost.

Anyway, I'm going to leave it be and just see what happens. It's evident my regular readers are picking up on it and giving it high marks.

I'd agree you should leave it up. I'm not a huge fan of tinkering with things after they're published [cough. George Lucas. cough cough]. If you believed it was good enough to submit, and fit the theme, and Laurel evidently agreed? Trust that and let it ride.

It belongs to the readers now. Let them have their say.

I’m writing a second story for nude day about college freshmen and coed showers and I want to make sure it hits in the Romance category. I’m presently about 2/3 done. Would anyone be willing to read it and advise any tweaks to hit that category better? And any other suggestions, of course.
If you are willing to help, please email me at: [Email redacted. Please don't post email addresses to the open forum. If you need to exchange email addresses, please do so via the private message system. - AH Mod]
Thanks.

Generally? A genuinely happy ending and a clear indication that feelz are involved will do just fine in Romance. It's a pretty easy category to do well in

The contest was announced on BlueSky, and probably on X, and the contest page is linked to the old blue-and-white front page. I haven't noticed the contest announced on my activities feed (most recent was the "Yay team" event), and it isn't linked to the main "Categories" page. The April Fools contest is still linked there.

I'm sure this will all be fixed eventually, but right now, reaching the contest page is a little inconvenient.

I actually wrote a story about her here! I think I had her use a blanket. I'm almost certain I had her side-saddle, too.
Cool, I'll check it out! My characters will be riding on saddles, but they'll take a lot of breaks. 😂

Perhaps featuring the leaders of two nuclear powers as they vie for world domination while denying their mutual attraction.
Lol, I'm using fantasy characters so that might be out of their depth. One of the fights does get a bit crazy though, one of them can shoot lightning.

Anyway, I'm going to leave it be and just see what happens. It's evident my regular readers are picking up on it and giving it high marks.
Hey, that's the main thing! And if you attract new readers, which I'm sure you will, then bonus!

I have used characters from my main series in contests before (and will be this time as well) with a fair amount of success.

My main series gets dark and violent, it's not only about sex, so I give my regular readers more light-hearted stories involving these characters (many of which end up being contest entries) and they seem to appreciate it. That's my goal this time around.

I also want expose my characters to new readers, yes the pun was intended considering the theme of this contest.

If you can figure out what it was, there is plenty of time until the deadline. Keep at it…
I can't figure it out, that's the point.... and honestly, the more i mull it over the more it starts to make me feel slighted.... so best to not dwell on it i think..... was just posting for the fun of participating, don't really need any cash prize anyway :)..... so good luck the rest of you.... ;)

I don't want to push this if you really don't want to share, but please feel free to let us know what feedback you got in case we can help. Many of us have been in that situation. My personal frustrations have been around dialogue criticisms as Laurel is particularly thingy about dialogue formatting! It's not uncommon at all to feel cross/slighted about it.

You mean that, at least i thought, random gibberish about.... punctuation or formatting and appropriately sized paragraphs..... if that is suppose to be a critic then i'm even more insult as that to me says they are judging against my personal writing style..... 😕

Yep, that's the one! The approach I used (thrice, for different stories) was to do a reasonable check against that (imperfect) essay , fix what is fixable, and resubmit with a note about what has been fixed and without arguing about the Queen's English. No issues the second time around.

That settles it then, because that is wrong in my opinion. I don't agree with the 'essay' about how it does punctuation for conversations, so if that is the reason for not accepting my story, guess i won't post it because i won't put up a story that i believe is not written right.... as i said, my writing style isn't acceptable (also explains why read so many stories where i think the person goofed)...... i have pride in my stories and won't adjust them in a way i feel is wrong..... 🙁

Thank you anyway for your help, i appreciate you trying help me out.... :) ..... at least i know and understand why it was refused even if i don't agree. (y)

I don't see the issue. I scanned the essay quickly, and it seems accurate in terms of dialogue punctuation. Maybe your ideas of punctuation are out of wack with accepted practice?

If your stories are being rejected for poor dialogue punctuation, then that's the issue, regardless what you might think. Maybe you should brush up on your grammar?

As i said, i do not agree it is accurate, so our 'accepted' practices are out of 'wack' with each other. So the issue does seem to be a difference of opinion on dialogue punctuation, and no brush up on grammar is going to help as i believe it is 'wrong'. And since i will not change my story to be written in a way i think is incorrect, i will just not post any stories rather then COMPROMISE my personal style.... thank you. 😐

^^^ Again ....

^^ Post a paragraph or two if you wish so we can see it and offer suggestions.

We're willing to offer suggestions. It's what we do here.

Grammar is grammar, and there are conventions one follows. Literotica follows US English, and one can consult any number of guides, as listed in the FAQs, to ascertain correct punctuation for this site.

Perhaps you could provide some examples of your dialogue, so we can see what you are doing? At the moment, you're asserting the site is wrong, but I've not seen what style you're proposing.

If you want your content published by Lit, you use their style guide, not your own version, whatever that might be. It's pretty simple, really.

I have nothing against suggestions as long as they are suggestions, i.e. they are opinions on what might work better, that one can or can not choice to take.... but things are starting to feel more like demands..... i will see about putting up a couple paragraphs, but still reserve the right to decide for myself if i take on any critics.

Well, but realize that the "demands" are the requirements of the site owners. Acceding to their demands is the price of posting here.

If your fealty to your artistic vision cannot allow you to do that, then you simply won't be posting here. And there's nothing wrong with that, but people are replying to you in good faith, assuming you actually do want to post here (because you've complained here).

If you don't care whether you post on Lit, you should make that clear so that we stop trying to help you.

I'm not saying the site is wrong, just that i personally disagree, that it doesn't feel right for me. It is a creative story not a legal document for some government department, so as long as it is neat with decent spelling and such so it is easy to read and understand it should be fine.

I have tried to be reasonable, indicating that since i can't agree with your style of conversational punctuation, that i will simply not choice to posts stories in the story section where it is apparently that way or else. An easy solution to an apparent disagreement of opinions. But i will not surrender my right to own opinion and my right to choose what feels good to me. That i think is fair.

I am well aware of that, and have indicated several time that i will not bother to send in stories to post in the story section. I 'complained' because i didn't understand why at the time i'd been refused but once made aware of it accepted that there was a difference of opinion, and that there was no sense in sending in stories. And since all i'm getting is repeated comments telling me i'm wrong..... that is not help.
