Attn nurses: medical advice needed.

My wife had a massage on Saturday, and ever since then, her bicep is aching like crazy. She’s very sensitive to stuff like that, and the pain is not very much during the day while she was working.

But at night, it’s unbearable and she can’t sleep. Every time she moves her arm it’s very painful. She never takes medicine and last night she even took a Tylenol, but it didn’t seem to help.

We are trying a warm compress today, but like I said during the day, it doesn’t really hurt, it’s only at night when her arm is in a neutral position. It kept her up the better part of the last three nights.
So. What does the pain feel.like...

Some delayed muscle pain can be normal but if severe or feels like tingling or is accompanied with numbness or nerve like pain she should.be seen by a doc

Does anyone know the symptoms of arthritis in the lower back and how it’s different from lower back pain? Yes I have been having lower back pain especially in the morning and today it’s lasting longer than usual.
It's a form of RA. I have it also...but my hands are the worst
Do you want a info link?

Symptoms of back pain due to arthritis:
    • Chronic back pain: Persistent pain lasting over three months.
    • Stiffness: Especially in the morning or after periods of rest.
    • Reduced range of motion: Difficulty bending or twisting.
    • Pain that worsens with activity: Mechanical damage from bending or twisting can worsen pain.
    • Numbness or tingling: In advanced cases, nerve involvement can cause these symptoms.
    • Grating or popping sensations: During movement.
    • Pain radiating down the legs or arms: In some cases, if nerve involvement is present.

No, Rj. I wanted good news! :ROFLMAO:

Happy Tuesday everyone...
I say that more to remind myself so I stay on track the rest of the week :ROFLMAO:
Quick catch up then I need to dive back into work...
If you’ve ever seen the film, it takes a while but John Wayne is the Colonel and comes in later in the film. When that scene came on, JW, walks in the hooch and right on cue, all the Green Beret’s stood up called out, AT EASE! Whipped out their green berets (which had been hidden under shirts or tucked away) placed them on and smartly saluted
Sounds like a much-loved ritual
 Hmm...my moods seem to be cycling :ROFLMAO:
A view from earlier you might all like.

I agree w/ @Wonderer67 ... gorgeous!!
Thanks.. I miss y'all IMMENSELY when I can't be here!
Aww... we miss you, too 🤗
We typically refer to it as a "hitch."
Thank you... Didn't think I was up on the jargon... and it can differ from job to job or industry to industry.
Oh! Thank you! What an honor! I would never have asked... 🤣🤣
I was thinking us girls can sit around drinking prosecco while W does the cleaning! 🤣🥂🤣
:ROFLMAO: I do like the way you think
Be careful with it... that flu I had on the boat a few months ago ain't no joke!
It almost feels like permanent damage was done.
Yikes!! Sounds awful!! Take care and hope the cook on this hitch does you right.
You know what I'm going to say!

Good handwashing.
Drink lots of fluids but don't drink only water. You will need electrolytes/salts. So drink tea, broth, Gatorade.
Eating isn't really that important. Eat what you can but don't force yourself to eat. Eat lightly. Broth. Soups.
Rest. Rest lots.
My 2 cents:
Handwashing - and wash "common items" like door knobs, faucets, toilet handles, remote controls, etc.
Broth - bone broth has those electrolytes plus protein
Rest - sleep is good medicine!!
Hope you feel better soon!! 🫂
My paternal grandmother's name will probably ring a bell with you... Pendleton
Now where have I heard that before?
JK - even this Yank has heard of Camp Pendleton even if I've never been
Short one!
Ugh - short weeks are the worst IMO. Mostly because it ends up fraught with people trying to fit 5 pounds of :poop: in a 4 pound bag
I had an odd day today. Hard to get motivated. I did pull some of the taller weeds. I need to get out there every day! 🙄
You and Wonderer both... hmm, correlation or causation at work
I’m also doing stretches for my back as I have some pain there. Aging is a pain but better than the alternative!
Definitely better than the alternative! Hope you're able to work the kinks out 🫂
Morning everyone, I want to thank our foreign thread attendees for letting me monopolize the thread yesterday as I attempted in a small way to honor and remember our military. And those that gave or were taken from us in domestic,or foreign conflicts. 🤗😘💋♥️🌹
Thank you, OM. It's good to reflect and remember from time to time.
I wasn’t going to offend our Northern neighbors but yes…🤣. WOW! A Pendleton. Being Army I was never there, but my crew this week is a Marine who spent time there. I think all Marines do at one point! What a legacy!
Well, I wasn't offended before...
jk ;)
Yes, I think most Marines cycle through at some point. I've yet to meet a Marine without a story about their time at Camp Pendleton.
Easy “hitch” this week as Boat says! Man, 28 day “tours” as we call it. Haven’t done those kinds in years. Stay sane out there Boat, we’re sending our best wishes.
See? Jargon... hitch, tour... apologies in advance if I don't recall which to use with each of you...
@Lilianna23 I am so fortunate to have you on call ... thanks for the advice and I promise to follow it... well most of it I am a typical guy
We all benefit from our wonderful medical team at the café... hope you follow enough to help make a difference, @Greylag. Feel better soon 🫂
Sincere Thanks for the best wishes!... I get off Thursday, but have a thousand mile drive after that.
That doesn't sound relaxing at all
Safe travels at the end of your tour hitch
I just sent this right to my wife. It’s a running joke with us when I get her tea after dinner..
OMG - I can so see you two together doing this :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I gave it a warning shot and it came even closer! Wise up deer! Eventually, it went scampering off, but not till it realized it was about 20 feet from me by the end!
I'm torn... on the one hand, a clear candidate for "thin the herd"... on the other, who wants to eat dumb meat? I mean, what other dumb things did this one do or pick up? Eeeeewww, right?
That's awesome!
Somewhere, I have a video of a nice sized buck, who walked up to the patio, wanting to get into my Wife's pepper plants... She's trying to run it off (verbally) but the deer just looked at Her as if it were saying "Whut... I just want a few bites?"
🤣
What is with your deer, you two? Are they too familiar with humans? The deer I've encountered in the Midwest are much more skittish IMO.
Too much being together and driving ... I need a break
Yeah, the downside of long road trips. I hope either you're home soon or you can manufacture some time apart - maybe with a willing relative?? 🫂

RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) is one possibility and one type of arthritis.

Here is a more generalized response from the internet... for anything more specific (like a diagnosis of RA), please consult your doctor...

Differentiating between general lower back pain and arthritis of the lower back (often referred to as lumbar spine arthritis or spondylosis) involves examining the cause, symptoms, duration, and diagnostic findings. Here's how you can distinguish them:

Was just joking around. Was hoping for some good news, as my back is always hurting.
I remember the day i injured my back. I was fairly young. I didn’t pay much attention to it but over the years it hurt but not to the point i paid it match attention. As i aged it became more pronounced. I’ve tried chiropractic, orthopedic, several RFAs and cortisone shots. The MRI shows one disk slightly compressed and arthritis on both sides if lower spine. I refer to it as my “friend”. Always there and on occasion very irritating. The only thing I’ve found as a relationship is that the pain is proportional to my waist size. If i keep my BMI in check the pain is so much less irritating. I’ve also noticed that if i train with at trainer using resistance training the stronger my core the less the pain.
I read a book called The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40 based upon my experience i agree with the author. Even doing all of the above on occasion it still bites but usually is short lived. That’s been my experience. I have to admit on occasion the RFAs really helped allot.

Hence the quote “If i knew i was going to live so long i would of taken better care of myself”. Good luck.

Thank you!

I have spinal stenosis, which is basically arthritis of the spinal column. The arthritis hits some of the nerve endings and really causes some pain, anywhere from annoying every day pain that’s always there in my SI joints to really painful sciatica “jolts.”

I agree with tweedle.

Working out, exercise, and being in shape definitely has helped me. Stretching is a bigee.

My discs between l5 and l6 and l4 and l5 are both in pretty rough shape - some bulging discs and other wear and tear.

Does anyone know the symptoms of arthritis in the lower back and how it’s different from lower back pain? Yes I have been having lower back pain especially in the morning and today it’s lasting longer than usual.
I think arthritis in a lower back can cause lower back pain, depending what type and where the arthritic joints are.

I'm kinda in a jam with my medical treatments. My primary care physician is a member of the Kettering Network.
A week ago it was the recipient of a Cyber attack which took out the entire network ie: phones, computers, diagnostics, everything, at least walkins are still available but any documentation is pen & paper for now. I can't even email my doctor. The news said it could be months before the system could be manageable again. I could go to a different hospital, but my insurance coverage might be out of network.

Yeah, I believe exercise is very important. Back is only part of the picture here, tho. There are some other issues, and the back issues arise from those issues (we think). It's pretty much constant due to those exacerbating circumstances. But, we are still trying to sort the whole thing out.

Pretty consistent weight training and cardio for the last 25 years. Sadly, I've had to back off of the cardio over last few months as things have deteriorated. The heart and lungs will do it, but the muscles won't. Had to back off on most of the weight training a couple years ago, although I still try to do light resistance training and core strengthening stuff.

Yeah, I believe exercise is very important.
Anyone else having flashbacks? If only it were that easy, right?
I'm kinda in a jam with my medical treatments.
Oh no! I hope they figure something out soon!
Scary how we relied on paper and pen for so long and now that it's been gone only a short while returning to it feels like the Dark Ages once more. 🫂
No numbness. She went to the urge ent care. They are doing some tests for Lyme and also for a few other tick borne diseases
Sending positive energy your way for some good results. Those tick illnesses are no joke!! 🫂

Thanks. We do not know if it’s a tickborne illness or actually just something physical. My wife is very sensitive to certain things.

The massage therapist really gave her a workout and did a number on her arm. We’re both half convinced (and hoping) that it’s something muscular rather than something tick borne.

Are you familiar with Comfrey?... the old timers called it "bone knit" due to its healing properties.
It's the primary ingredient in the Dr. Christopher's ointment that I linked earlier.
I grow it as well. It'll take the pain out of a yellow jacket sting in 90 seconds.

I boiled my hand, like a pack of hotdogs once, to get a generator online for the ship's power. Not only did Comfrey ointment eliminate the pain, but it had new skin grown by the time the blisters peeled off.
