The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

So back home after a great week with the children and mt new grandson.Sadly mixing with the great unwashed has left me with a virus that I think is norovirus …. So feeling crap!
Oh, you poor Greylag!🫂🫂 You know what I'm going to say!

Good handwashing.

Drink lots of fluids but don't drink only water. You will need electrolytes/salts. So drink tea, broth, Gatorade.

Eating isn't really that important. Eat what you can but don't force yourself to eat. Eat lightly. Broth. Soups.

Rest. Rest lots. You're always so busy. And, for the sake of all that is holy, do NOT go out anywhere and spread your germs!

Stay warm. You might have a fever alternating with chills. Warm showers, baths. You may need an extra blanket. But don't overheat yourself.

Feel free to DM me if you have questions or concerns. I'm on call while Miss K is on her trip! 💞

My family has a military service history dating back to the Civil War. My wife’s side has a rich history also. We all came home, except one. I’m remembering all, but especially my great uncle.

Lost over Saint Nazaire France after piloting his B-17 on a bombing run on Nazi sub pens. The last known contact from a sister ship had two engines knocked out and a flight of FW-190’s attacking as the plane straggled. Plane and crew listed as MIA. Most likely crashed into the Atlantic.

I finished Masters of The Air - Donald Miller, this past winter. It specifically talks about this mission on 23 Nov 42. The Luftwaffe changed their tactics to head on attacks because the B-17’s were so well armored…except for the nose guns. Once the new tactic was employed, they started inflicting heavy losses on the fortresses. Unfortunately, one of those was my uncles plane.

May we never forget those that gave all.
Thanks for the share!
My paternal grandmother's name will probably ring a bell with you...
Pendleton... they go back to the Revolutionary War and the CW (or the War of Northern Aggression, as we still refer to it.)

In honor my father who was a cook in the Army Air Corps, here is my breakfast cookie recipe. BTW his cookies were better but I don’t have his recipe.

1 egg well beaten
One quarter cup honey
One half cup almond butter
A teaspoon of almond extract
One half teaspoon of baking soda
One cup oatmeal
One third cup each of chopped almonds, coconut, and dried cherries.

Mix well all liquid ingredients
Then add dry ingredients until rather thick
Let sit for 15 minutes
Scoop individual cookies onto parchment paper lined pan
Bake at 350 F for 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven. Check the edges for browning not burnt.
It makes about 18 cookies.
Thank you, B2! 😘🪶😘

Good morning all. Yesterday was a good one with a good call with my sister as my BIL is doing better. They are recovering from RSV too. So, I’m delaying my visit until they are well.

I had lunch downtown outdoors with friends. The weather was wonderful and company enjoyable.

This morning I am taxing my grandchildren. I’m also doing stretches for my back as I have some pain there. Aging is a pain but better than the alternative!

Have a good day.

I wasn’t going to offend our Northern neighbors but yes…🤣. WOW! A Pendleton. Being Army I was never there, but my crew this week is a Marine who spent time there. I think all Marines do at one point! What a legacy!

Go home day for me today. Easy “hitch” this week as Boat says! Man, 28 day “tours” as we call it. Haven’t done those kinds in years. Stay sane out there Boat, we’re sending our best wishes.
