Feedback on new policy announcement.

I’m curious if you tried to use the media option for tumblr or GIPHY. Because you definitely can’t embed images from those two sites, even though they are listed under the media option.
I dislike GIPHY, so I don't use it

But I saw some threads that still had giphy gifs yesterday after all the embeds broke, so I assumed those worked still
I haven't seen any tumblr one, you may be right on that

The Pinterest, Youtube, Instagram, Spotify embeds seemed to work

This isn’t a reasonable comparison. Lit is not trying to sell anything in the forums. There’s no need to window shop here for goods that don’t exist.

This.

I guess you are here also for the " literature" :D :D :D

The proof is in the pudding... the busiest forum today https://forum.xnxx.com/

and yes, it has a lit section.... 280,000 + messages
it also has a picture section...2,380,000 +messages

about 10 X as many. I guess folks are NOT there for the " literature" like they do here.

Yeah but this confirms my point that the policy change had nothing to do with Trump or user feedback or whatever.
No, it doesn’t. Nothing I said gave any indication to their reasoning. We asked questions related to moderating. We were given guidance related to our questions and were told that, by the way, changes to the rules would be coming.

@Manu @Laurel @ToPleaseHim - Please advise whether this follows the new rules. Serious question.
The attached image has no nudity. It serves as a link to a NSFW image hosted elsewhere.
If visual artists can post pics this way, viewers will at least get a preview of the work
without having to click links. Those that want to see the NSFW version will still need to click.

The example here has a chicken, no actual human nudity.
This is an original piece, drawn by me, and titled A Man And His Huge Cock.

I don’t know. I really don’t have any more insight than other members as I have also only had Manu’s update to go by. I’ve tried to answer questions based on what I do know or to explain things that people have misinterpreted, misunderstood, or assigned malicious intent to.

I like your idea, though. I also think that a written description of a linked image, something like the captioning folks do when describing images posted on social media to make them more accessible to people with vision issues. Teaser descriptions with a link seem like a good idea.

Another serious question:

I suspect that it is just a matter of time that the "up front" Erotic Art Sex artworks are will be obliterated.

I have been banned from inserting images (of any kind), directly, in the forums (I get that, with the new policy, which I kept testing), but can still "insert images" via links. I have not found a host outside of LIT which I like.

But, I CAN insert a linked image from LIT's own Erotic Art Sex artworks ("up front").
All my images there were approved and posted/hosted under LIT's previous guidelines

Is that "ok"?

I see many images throughout the forums which are not behind text links. I suspect that is just a matter of the number of "police" available.

I would guess, that the insert image option will eventually be disabled.

Room With a View same thing, but hidden behind a text link.

Not anymore! HAHAHHAHA

It WAS at the bottom of the window when starting (or editing) a post.
Insert image (or multiple images)- they had limitations on file size and pixel dimensions (600px max height x 800px max Width)
You'd click on that and find your image, which meets the requirements and then upload, afterwhich you get the option to insert it, into your post, as a thumbnail or full size.
Those were (are, but not for me) hosted directly by Literotica.

VS those posted on a remote site like imgur or Reddit or Tmblr or what have you...where you up load to that site and THEN copy the url to you image and create a text link or post the image into your post, via either the chain-link icon (above) or the landscape image icon (also above)
So it was called "Attach Files" and when you clicked, if you were running Windows, you got something like this? If so, then I can still do it. Which forum(s) are you talking about? I'll see if it's specific to a forum or to you.

It is JUST me, who has been banned from that, in any and all forums.
Just checking if other folks had been banned yet.

I suspect, most are not posting as explicit drawings as I have been.

If it is photos, well that has l-o-n-g had restrictions.

What is true anywhere you go, where there is a rule change, there must have been a problem.

From a liability standpoint, I get it. From the potential that there is possible pedo posting, I get it.

The vast decades body of work here should not be lost because of these issues. Tbh, when you look at it from that standpoint, it's a no brainer. Cut the bullshit and save the website. I get it.

I've seen other websites go through similar things. Yes, this changes my long time Lit experience because of bad actors and I don't like that. I am, however, grateful that steps are taken to preserve this site. Lit's been around since 1999 at least. In internet terms, that's ancient.

There may come a day when it all changes back again. There may come a day when this site is gone. I am glad to have been part of it with you all and will continue in my own weird way. I will have to adjust also. But we're all creative here right? We can sort this out and still have some fun, some experiences, some laughs to take out into the physical world.

I'll have to figure out another way to get boobs in my inbox just as you all will have to figure out a way to send boobs to my inbox. I'm counting on you. This is important.

Instead of boobs on your inbox I’ll give you tits in the backyard. 😈

Even better comparison here on lit:

another proof in the pudding what is popular:

While there are most certainly image threads in the GB, calling it a “picture board mostly” is not at all accurate. It hasn’t been as busy in recent years, but for a couple decades it was a hopping forum with a great deal of discussion and banter.

Bullshit. It was all politics. The picture threads are the only thing that's kept that forum alive since politics was moved out. Most of what's on the front page is still picture threads despite them being neutred, and the bottom of page 1 is 12 hours since the last post.

Stick a fork in it.

I have tried but not found the will in me to read all the posts so at the risk of repeating already expressed sentiment:

- I have seen concerted and repeated efforts by some to exploit the challenges inherent in moderating nudity of possibly minors in possibly policy infringing ways. Some of those images that I have seen clearly had potential of attracting the interest of law enforcement but I am no insider so I do not know if they actually did. 'No nudity' offers a much brighter line to police imagery and resulting risk profile. I would not advocate for the new policy but I can see its rationale and what has given rise to it.

- Lit never was and never could be a great image board, core business is text and I see nothing wrong with getting back closer to core business. Anybody missing those image threads: pop over into boards like elliquiy where it's still thriving and probably with the closest userbase and culture overlap. The visual artist corner has - with a few outstanding exceptions - been moribund for a good while (after a period where I guess it must have given rise to a spike in reports until one particular poster left ...)

Amazing that I was able to be a regular on the GB for several years without spending time in politics threads. Most of the regulars were opposed to splitting off the Politics Board, incidentally. Not because they loved the extreme political threads, but it was actually pretty easy to avoid those by placing Busybody and his cadre of alts on Ignore.

Most of the regulars have moved on from Lit, just checking in from time to time. Social media has certainly impacted the number of folks seeking a message board for conversation and connection. GB has been slow for several years, sure.

Image threads have been prominent on the GB the last few years and I’m really hopeful the policy changes will result in the Tumblr style posters will move on. None of them are posting original content.

So (and I really hate to whine about this truly) is the rule just ZERO images unless they are linked? I posted some totally PG memes in my thread yesterday and then linked some actual adult content. The (again) totally appropriate for Facebook or Instagram or any other platform images have been completely removed - deleted - and the links remain.

I understand this is a free website and we are subject to whatever whims they very generous site providers want to enact (even if I don't agree) but, respectfully, what can we do to get some guidance on this?

If it's literally JUST text moving forward - say that and remove the option for pictures. I know I'm repeating much of what's been said but as an author of stories (freely submitted for the profit of others) and an active participant of these boards who drives traffic much of which IS text based - I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for better communication. We are, after all, adults.

I've messaged Laurel and Manu asking essentially this very question.

How long do you think a reply will take?
