Feedback on new policy announcement.

Imagine you walk into a nice shopping mall and there are no displays, no shop windows, no posters just signs like these : "shoesallsorts/leather/canvas/mens..womens childrens//Even doggie shoes. something"
and then there are about 5 like these among 150 other stores selling all sorts of wares.....

You'll be dumbfounded and so is a page of nothing then links. How do I separate crap from goodies aka something you do not like vs what you do like. Nobody will be clicking 100 times to see 5 pictures he/she likes....

This will kill this site.... Can you spell Lush???
It appears images are being deleted or offloaded behind links.

A thread of links serves no purpose. @Celand said it perfectly. Maybe we will back to discussing what we like.

This isn’t a reasonable comparison. Lit is not trying to sell anything in the forums. There’s no need to window shop here for goods that don’t exist.

This site isn’t image-based. It never has been. The vast majority of us are here for erotic literature. It’s called Literotica for a reason.

This.

So please explain the specific topic “amateur pic feedback” which has 37k threads and 5.9m posts…ohhh sorry they are just words…i think what you are referring to is the Stories website of literotica rather than the forums

Yep, exactly! But if it was!

You mean like how we purchase other adult-regulated content, like cannabis or nicotine here in Ontario, Canada?

We’ve adapted just fine to those systems and most people don’t complain because they’d rather have access with a few extra steps than not have access at all.

So yeah, sometimes the “shop window” is a little less flashy. But the trade-off is we get to keep the doors open.

I guess all the content creators should just stop bothering with the “attach files” button too, since apparently any extra effort is too much stimulation on your end. Wild idea, right? That we might be equally turned off by how fast a lot of these “appreciators of real women” seem to need access to their own cock with zero resistance or investment.

How do I separate crap from goodies
Maybe try going somewhere designed to cater to your exact filters, since that’s what the industry has trained you and so many others for 🤷🏼‍♀️

Your point is well taken. However, each of us has their own reason(s) for visiting. The site's revenue is based on images, period. No images, no revenue. The issue is exposure to risk. Sponsor images comply with U.S. Code sec. 2257. The fact is that the bills are paid by getting viewers to click on links to porn sites, call it what you will.

Yes, I get that as well. The context you've provided has been really helpful in understanding the changes here and on other sites. It's going to be a wild ride for a lot of these users if Project-2025-driven legislation ends up banning porn online in general.

Latest (from my own experience- today)

I can no longer post images directly to my posts. The option is no longer available to me.
The link options still are.

I believe that I somehow caught the administrators' attention by trying to post a new image. (no naughtier than my prior images, but not in compliance with the new policy. I'd show you, but I can't)

I tried first in the playground, which is most likely the "reddest red flag", as I was told that folk are not expecting images in many (all?) of those threads. It WAS an edit to one of my posts my own thread there. It vanished shortly afterwards.

I tried the same in a thread of mine in the Visual Artists Corner. Same results.

Then, I noticed that I no longer had the option at all.

I've sent a PM to Manu & Laurel. I suspect that "this is the way." heehee

Looks like I am done for.

Not totally banned from the site, yet.

Can you describe the icon you use to "post images directly to my posts?" What it looks like, and where one finds it?

Not anymore! HAHAHHAHA

It WAS at the bottom of the window when starting (or editing) a post.
Insert image (or multiple images)- they had limitations on file size and pixel dimensions (600px max height x 800px max Width)
You'd click on that and find your image, which meets the requirements and then upload, afterwhich you get the option to insert it, into your post, as a thumbnail or full size.
Those were (are, but not for me) hosted directly by Literotica.

VS those posted on a remote site like imgur or Reddit or Tmblr or what have you...where you up load to that site and THEN copy the url to you image and create a text link or post the image into your post, via either the chain-link icon (above) or the landscape image icon (also above)

Wow. So many complaints. Most of the pictures posted were on a timer and aren't there anyway.
Who cares if you have to click a link. As long as it opens in a new tab so you don't have to go looking for where you were its ok.
Lets hope the app they promised works as well. Or they maintain this site as well as they do.
As for the app I hope there is a windows version to test out. I use a web page on windows or linux. Having an app to load and test from the microsoft store will be kind of cool to see how they do it. If they lose the site I will miss it. This one is so much like the old timey alt.binary newsgroups and related lists it just works for me. Most other sites that worked as a list and repository are things of the past now. AoL, Yahoo groups....

I guess I should apologise to JaFO, but as a Mod he should be aware and ADVISE that fool Manu from Planet Sound that this lame excuse for this policy...

.... is stupid " looking over the shoulder looking on their phone". So let them go back into history and become just another ASSTR(.... DEAD....) full of lame stories because anything " juicy" is banned also... Maybe they should also publish all stories on paper, Gestettner them a Fax them to the interested parties.... That would be real history !! Good riddance !
He might not have made the rule. But given that he posted this thread two years ago about removing picture threads (and he removed my most popular thread shortly after making that post that year) he definitely had some influence creating that policy.

This thread also means that they had been planning this policy change for awhile. It wasn't a sudden decision due to Trump, user feedback or any other bullshit excuse they had. It was because you have elitist mods like JaF0 who believe the site should be text only and not have any pictures or videos at all.

Do you think it’s possible the policy change was due to pushy, cantankerous people like you who don’t understand how forums work

You are jumping to conclusions. JaF0 made that thread at the time that Laurel first told us changes were going to come for image posting threads.

He and I had both sought guidance from her regarding endless image threads and rules clarification. Per the letter of the rules as currently written, almost all of the image threads here are in violation of the rules. Aside from AmPics and visual art and photography threads, all of the endless image threads should go. It’s a tough transition to go into a forum that had little or no moderation for years. He made that announcement when he started moderating F&S. I made no announcement when I started moderating LGBTQIA+. But we both removed images and threads at about the same rate.

Who cares if you have to click a link.

I do. I tend to post a thematically related set of images. Sometimes they tell a story. They are meant to be viewed as a set. Looking at them individually by clicking links rather ruins the effect.

@Manu @Laurel @ToPleaseHim - Please advise whether this follows the new rules. Serious question.
The attached image has no nudity. It serves as a link to a NSFW image hosted elsewhere.
If visual artists can post pics this way, viewers will at least get a preview of the work
without having to click links. Those that want to see the NSFW version will still need to click.

The example here has a chicken, no actual human nudity.
This is an original piece, drawn by me, and titled A Man And His Huge Cock.

Yeah but this confirms my point that the policy change had nothing to do with Trump or user feedback or whatever.

This was too funny for words....

Well, apparently I've lost my pic posting privileges, even in dms.

Fuck the bullshit way this site is currently currently being run, with piss poor communication of policy change
Not allowing pics on the forum is one thing but i don't get why they are also banning pics in DMs. Anytime me and my friend try to send each other images on DMs it always comes up as links now.

They've disabled embedding from sites and links other that the one's in the Media option
Its fuckin bizzare and complete ass
I’m curious if you tried to use the media option for tumblr or GIPHY. Because you definitely can’t embed images from those two sites, even though they are listed under the media option.
