Feedback on new policy announcement.

I would have hoped those decisions were made before things rolled out.
As someone who manages a business.... I would have had a few ideas on paper.
Well, that was my thought too, but 🤷🏼‍♂️

Currently we could be banned from the site for breaking rules that haven't been communicated...

I don’t follow on this one. What makes you think they haven’t planned out their decisions and how they would be implemented?

The lack of available clear cut guidelines post implementation of this policy. I've seen you, as a mod, say you're waiting on guidance as well in your answers.

Maybe they just aren't sharing it?

A lack of communication on the topic doesn’t indicate a lack of planning. It’s pretty par for the course here. I’m actually surprised at all the surprise.

Moderators don’t get advanced notice of changes being made, we find out as they are announced to everyone or sometimes we all find out when they are implemented. My role hasn’t changed in relation to the announcement that has been made, although it has made me consider turning off PMs.

TPH I respect the hell out of you. You've always been kind and helpful whenever I've needed you.
You work hard here and I appreciate that. You deserve their communication most of all.

I guess I'm surprised because I've not lived through major changes on lit before.

I naively assumed that when Manu made the vague post about policy changes where she said nudity would be banned from the forums, that they would put flesh on the bones before they implemented the policy.

They are currently auto deleting pics that would be safe on Instagram, and are safe on imgur (who have also banned nudity).

No one knows where they stand anymore, and whilst saying that no one should be surprised that clarity is not forthcoming, it kinda trashes the user experience. Surely it would make things a lot easier for them, us and most especially you mods if people knew what they can and can't post?

Currently, pictures of someone's back and underwear count as unacceptable nudity.

I'm not blaming you for any of this, just surprised at the absolute silence regarding what is and isn't allowed anymore.

I appreciate that and I stay a mod here because I know people need help sometimes. I needed it (in the GB, though, so THAT didn’t go especially well, lol) and I know how quickly things can get out of hand here.

Nothing has changed for me here. In fact, if I hadn’t engaged in this thread, this would have been pretty non-eventful for me. I don’t need any extra guidance or communication from Laurel as she has asked nothing different of me. If she does ask us to do something different, she will of course reach out. If she or Manu give us an extra info or guidance, I’ll post about it in the forums I mod.

Of note: I spend a lot of time removing images that definitely should never have been shared here. Playing whack-a-troll with that FemDomme scammer is the only thing that takes more of my time.

It's not just nude pics. Now I can't get any image to display. How can we fix that?

How are you trying to post them? Through a 3rd party site or direct on lit?

If it's direct on lit, you may well need to use an app like pixlr or picsart to reduce the file size. If it's too big, it won't post.

The only 3rd party pic sharing site that lit will allow to display directly as opposed to via a link you click is imgur (presumably because they have a no nudity policy already). But try imgur for non nude pics.

Failing that, if it's nudity, it needs to be linked

It might not be an indication of a lack of planning. But, at minimum, it is an indication of poor execution, if you care about the users of your forum.

Perhaps they don’t care. If that’s the case, I get it; they’re not required to. Like, they are offering a free service for us all. It likely takes a lot of time. But your site was made great by its users and some consideration for that would be nice. It does completely change the flow of the site.

No other change I’ve seen in the 13 years I’ve been here has affected the forum flow this much.

Maybe it’s unrealistic of people to expect they communicate it. But why not communicate it?

Who believes this new "rule" was set up by a bunch of women who are upset people post pictures better looking than they are?
lol

What i've heard the reason for the new rule is due to pictures from this site appearing on Google whenever they are posted. The admins asked Google to pay them money for displaying their pictures on search results and Google refused so as a result all photos (nude or not) are no longer allowed on here. It's all about money folks.

Well, that's patently bullshit...

You been talking to Stephen Miller for that one?
