Virtual Literotica Convention 2025 Author Challenge Official Support Thread

Hi,

Just stopping by with a question.

I’m writing a second Lit-Con story. In it authors who are also characters are important [because of reasons]. I wondered whether I could have a headcount of authorial self-insertions in the Lit-Con stories, only say “yo!” if you are cool with a namecheck (I promise not to let any of my or @Djmac1031’s she-demons peg you, OK?).

I already know:

4. @AlexFourways (no permission on file)
Anyone else?
Fine to use Alex and Bella, you might need her consent / presence, but he has been involved in Convention Pt. 01: Star of the Show in a bit of E activity!
- I suppose Alex Hughes aka Mr Fourways is a bit meta as like Brian it's my pen name and so for Alex Hughes his!

I cannot guarantee anything, but if you have a character or couple who want to engage with Alex and Bella but don't have time to write a full story, if you provide an outline, I will try to write something. DM me if interested.

Congratulations!!!! My views have been low. ☹️

I get the feeling mine will be as well and I've mentally prepared for it.

My regular readers will probably get a kick out of it, but im honestly not sure how many new readers will get it.

of course, at this writing my story is only a few hours old, so who knows.

Otherworldly Convention Goers Part 2 went live this morning!

The initial ratings took a beating, the "Group Sex" category has always been a harsher environment for me than "Sci-Fi/Fantasy" usually is. It's all good though, my normal audience will love Tiafell's encounter as much as I loved writing it! Hopefully more newcomers will too.

Almost all of my other entries for this challenge will be in "Group Sex", as nearly every sex scene will involve three or more people, so I expect similar ratings for each. I stopped worrying about them a long time ago, they go up and down anyway. 😅

  1. Me (d’oh!)
  2. @FreyaGersemi (or is that Cynthia?)
  3. @PennyThompson (via my story)

Thank you to the volunteers 😊. I think I’ve incorporated everyone and sent those inovlved an excerpt. Still happy to include others - I’ve not written the fourth fifth of the story (if that makes sense) yet. But PM me if you want to be added, as I don’t check threads much.

Emily

PS I had a stern talk with both @Djmac1031 and Cozbi, there will be no peggings of volunteers, unless specifically requested

My story's Part 2 is done with as much editing as I feel like, so I clicked "Publish" on another 5,800 words to complete my Loving Wife cliff-hanger. ("What happens in the elevator, stays in ..." the whole convention!)

"Convention Pt. 2: Star of the Show" should be available for Lit Con 2025 within the next 48 hours.

I've been working on Part 3 of mine, taking a small break at the moment. I hope to have it submitted tomorrow and hopefully published sometime during the weekend. Fingers crossed!

Just submitted Part 3, going to take the rest of the day off from writing. 😅

Just had the following from @RoleplayLiterate (9 hours ago) on the Catalog...
----
How are we missing branded condoms and cock rings and vibrators? Plus notebooks and pens and pencils. We need more swag.
----
Sadly it would be up to @JWtts to produce the images and I could update the Cat - but don't know if it would be posted in time!

Honestly, I thought about it, but then that list started to grow as one might imagine. Condoms, cock rings, vibrators, dildos, fleshlights, butt plugs, nipple clamps, and so on for any kink and non-kink related swag one could think of. It would've never ended, and I'd still be here Photoshopping rather than chipping away at a story that I'm about to heavily re-tweak. 🤕

Plus, of the swag I did create, that was all using free templates. While I was able to find some adult-themed templates for condoms and a vibrator, I would've needed to buy a license to use those. I also thought about grinding through and manually tweaking packaging for existing items, but that would've been more work. And as mentioned above, I knew someone would've said, "but what about a [insert sex object here]?" so I cut it off at the lube.

So... @RoleplayLiterate and anyone else, I'm sorry I couldn't make all the swag, 😞 but assume/imagine any and all Lit Con themed swag you might desire is in your bag after you arrive (or available to order). Yes, even that Lit Con themed sex swing and body pillow is in there. 🧙‍♂️

Just had Part 3 rejected, this is the first time in several months this has happened. Here's the reason I was given:

I've never had this issue before, but I think I may know what it's talking about. I'm an HTML noob and I tried something I've never done before. I'm going to take that out and try submitting it again.

I've had that a few times, seemingly at random - it's hard to know what's tripped things up. Check against the essay, fix what you can find, and explain your changes when you resubmit.

Other than the one thing I'm guessing it probably was, I didn't see anything that stuck out to me based on the essay. It's weird though, this is going to be my 40th published entry, yet this is the first time I've seen this message and I didn't write my dialogue any differently other than trying to insert a link to another author's story in a single sentence.

I've resubmitted it, so we'll see. But you're right, it's hard to know what trips the process up. I had a few things get rejected for being "largely written by AI", or whatever it said, when I first started. That hasn't happened in quite a while, I don't think it has once in 2025!

If it gets rejected again, I'll seek outside help.

Ah yeah.... so how do you successfully link to another author's story?

Oh, also make sure to make a note in the Admin section letting them know any links in your story are only to LE authors profiles or stories. Let's them know you're not trying to link to something off site.

Gonna post how I do it below, not sure if the coding will show or just the link:

<a href="https://tags.literotica.com/lit con 2025/">Lit-Con 2025 Event</a>
I thought I had did it that way, but I likely screwed it up some way or another. Like I said, I’m an HTML noob. 😅

I decided to take the link to the story out of the dialogue. The author and the story that features those characters are already credited at the end of the chapter anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal to remove it from the dialogue.

I'd think it'd be rather distracting in dialog anyway. Plus honestly maybe not the best idea encouraging readers to click away from your story to another in the middle lol.

I save any and all links and acknowledgements to the end.

Now that I think about it, the link showed up blue in the preview page, so I did do it right!

But yeah, you make a damn good point! I was essentially going to credit it twice and be distracting lol!
