Only Democratic Presidents to have won two full four-year terms in the post-FDR era:I shouldn’t be so hard on the young’ns…
Carter faced headwinds from the get go. He didn’t really have a mandate as he had a modest win over Ford. Took over during the highest inflation due the Arab embargo’s in the early 70’s. Add in the above inter-party scuffles, Afghanistan situation, Iranian Hostage crisis, Three Mile Island at home, and the malaise that stagflation and a perceived weakness internationally, the country was ripe for a true leader.
As to the nattering nabobs of negativity above…I’ll say this. President Carter was the worst president of my lifetime. As a president, not as a man. Luckily for him, every democrat since has lowered the bar. Biden now holds the mantle of worst president, not only of my lifetime but ever.
*William Jefferson Clinton (1992, 1996): Never got 50% of the nationwide vote: Won with 43% in 1992 and reelected with 49% in 1996.
*Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., (2008, 2012): Won with 53% in 2008 and reelected with 51% in 2012.
