I'd like to know how that survey was conducted. It may be right, it may be wrong. Just seems to me that that survey is wide open to all sorts of bad answers....................by any one regardless of race or national origin.

Empires are built on violent crime, the military oppression and exploitation of weaker nations. They last around 300 years. We're at the end of the American empire, when the military stops being profitable. Then the empire cannibalizes itself to maintain some wealth for a shrinking elite. Random violence and the breakdown of everything, lasting more centuries, are the cost at the end for the benefits at the beginning. Just to add here. The OP is about 'stable family units' not about whether someone fathered a child or not. The poll may be entirely correct as far as it goes but the illegitimacy/single parent (mother) data paint a picture that may be in conflict with the linked poll.

It is a very real and very serious issue. Children raised in a single female headed household do poorly compared to an intact family. The children of male lead single parent households do better, but still worse than an intact family. That data has been known for decades.

Ok, but that's not what you said...you said "out of wedlock"

Having a parent out of the picture is an issue, yes. But marriage isn't the same topic. Parents have kids without being married all the time. And many single parents end up getting married to someone who is not related to the children.

Simplistic views don't answer complex problems.

“A Clash of Police Policies,” a column written by Thomas Sowell, presents some readily available statistics:

Homicide rates among black males went down by 18 percent in the 1940s and by 22 percent in the 1950s. It was in the 1960s, when the ideas of Chief Justice [Earl] Warren and others triumphed, that this long decline in homicide rates among black males reversed and skyrocketed by 89 percent, wiping out all the progress of the previous 20 years.

Academics and the media blame poverty and discrimination for today’s crime. No one bothers to ask why crime was falling in the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s, when blacks faced far greater poverty and discrimination.

The 1960s riots were blamed on poverty and discrimination. Poverty and discrimination were worse in the South than in the rest of the country, but riots were not nearly so common there...

In 1950, 72 percent of black men and 81 percent of black women had been married. Also, only 17 percent of black children lived in single-parent households; today it’s close to 70 percent. Every census from 1890 to 1950 showed that black labor force participation rates exceeded those of whites. During the late 1940s, the unemployment rate for black 16- and 17-year-olds was less than that for white teens.

Before 1970 a man of below average intelligence could get a factory job with a strong union. The union job guaranteed a reasonably good income with good benefits. This in turn made him eligible for marriage, and able to raise a family.

Since 1980 this has become increasingly difficult. This problem has become acute for Negroes, because the average black IQ is at least 15 points below the average white IQ:

I am a registered Democrat. A lot of this stuff sounds good to me. I am in favor of a high minimum wage, strong labor unions, and a well financed public sector of the economy paid for by high taxes on rich people and corporations. I am also in favor of more environmental protection. What I and most Democrats want is not Communism, but Social Democracy. ​

Communism does not prove that socialism does not work. It proves that a dictatorship is an inappropriate government for a socialist economy.

There never was a possibility of a Communist dictatorship in the United States. Reactionaries used the imaginary danger of such a dictatorship to discredit the democratic left in the United States, including the Democrat Party.

The danger during the Cold War was of a nuclear war, for which the United States may have been responsible. The Soviet Union had a no first use policy regarding nuclear weapons. The United States was pledged to using nuclear weapons if we found ourselves losing a conventional war in Europe.
