Skylar always loved the sea she felt most at peace by the ocean which was why she lived close to it, she went swimming a lot and even helped some wounded animals that came around stuck on land. She was a peaceful woman the kind of person you would want to know, she was extremely smart as well. She had no friends however and no family to speak of either, her mother died of cancer when about ten years ago from cancer, her father drank himself to die three years ago. So for a while she felt like she was surrounded by death and that scared her, so she decided to not have friends, was just easier that way. She had been picked on badly in school, she had been tripped, hit and even cut even though she did nothing to deserve such a thing. She never uttered a sound or a word in school afraid her bullies would pick on her worse. She never said anything to anyone about it, it was something that was hard to tell people any way. She never ate lunch either, when it was time for lunch she would go to the music room to continue on her music. She was a music savant and was able to do things not man could do at her age. She made up music with and without words but she never sang or performed in front of anyone. But thankfully she had done her time and graduated right on time, the one thing she did love though and that was the fact she was her classes valedictorian. Even though her time had been hell she still gave a good speech, she had been told she would be someone in her life. And hoped that her teachers were right when it came to that.
Because life had not been kind to her she even graduated with no one and that was fine with her, though she was very lonely. But animals did not judge you or hate you or torture you, they were with you no matter what, though she had no animals herself she loved them. She had always loved sea animals and dogs, her two passions. She even worked on the sea, her job was a ten hour a job kind of thing. She would be sent out in the coordinates and once there she was to make notes to see if any animal had been covered in oil or covered in something that could kill what ever life it was. On her lunch she would swim she loved being out there with no one to see what she was doing, one day however everything had changed. When she was out in the ocean she saw a fishermen's boat and noticed there haul it looked like it was more then just fish she could tell, it was not long before she heard the men yelling out that they were going to be reach. She used her boat to get close but out of sight and it was when she saw him. Her eyes went wide when she saw the creature, it was a mermaid? She moved closer and noticed it was a male and she grew angry she yelled at them to let him go, that they would kill him. But the men just laughed and told her to fuck off. They took off high speed there boat faster then her own, she had to do something Skylar could not just sit there. So she did the only thing she could and that? Was to case after them to try confront the men. But before they had a chance to take off out of sight she made eye contact with the merman.
By the time she got back it had been a few hours, she saw the boat and asked around to see who knew who's boat it was. Once she was given an idea she went to where she was told, it was some kind of big building and in the middle of the huge room was a huge tank filled with sea water. She slowly walked up to the tank and noticed that there eyes were locked, she slowly raised her hands showing she had nothing to hurt him with. He was beautiful not like the movies or books but he was even more beautiful. She had no idea how such a creature could even be a real thing, she had heard that in some parts of the ocean there are huge holes that are to deep for humans to swim in and look and to small to fit some kind of machine to take pictures. Since no one had seen one till know she realized there truly were creatures that humans knew nothing about, didn't even know that such things excisted in the first place.
By the time she got back it had been a few hours, she saw the boat and asked around to see who knew who's boat it was. Once she was given an idea she went to where she was told, it was some kind of big building and in the middle of the huge room was a huge tank filled with sea water. She slowly walked up to the tank and noticed that there eyes were locked, she slowly raised her hands showing she had nothing to hurt him with. He was beautiful not like the movies or books but he was even more beautiful. She had no idea how such a creature could even be a real thing, she had heard that in some parts of the ocean there are huge holes that are to deep for humans to swim in and look and to small to fit some kind of machine to take pictures. Since no one had seen one till know she realized there truly were creatures that humans knew nothing about, didn't even know that such things existed in the first place. But that was the beauty of it, she was glad some parts of the ocean could not get there hands on. When she got half way she stopped dead in her tracks hearing someone pulling the hammer back on a hand gun, she kept looking at the merman and then heard the man asking why she was there, she had told them they had no right in keeping him a prisoner because that is what he was, a prisoner that could not get away. The man told her she was a fool and that they were keeping him no matter what anyone said. She moved a little closer to the tank seeing that around his fin was a chain, he was chained to the tank. He had enough slack that he could get to the top of the tank, she looked at the man ten times more pissed. She had been told that they would make millions because they were going to display him and that made her sick, that they would do that to him. He was flesh and blood even more so partly human so he was no monster to him. Before the man left her because he wasn't afraid of her, to have fun talking to the fish but before he left the room she spoke to the ass hole.
"Only monster in this fucking building is you" She growled.
When he left with his men she slowly put her arms down walking up to the tank, once she was there she saw him up close and personal. She placed her hand on the tank, tears forming in her eyes as she was sad and angry, she had to do something about this. She had to get him out some how, it was going to be a huge undertacking especially because of the shackle that was around his fin. Looking down hanging her head she felt bad and responsible, humans were like this. At least a great many were because she respected life on land and in the sea, humans only thinking of money. Which made her hate her species because humans were filthy creatures, she hated her kind. She began to think perhaps she could have done something out in the sea, so that she could have saved him then. Sadly she had no knife so she couldn't destroy the net, she ran it over and over into her head it was beyond crazy. But she snapped back to her reality and slowly looked back up at him, the tears in her eyes finally slid down her cheeks. She had no idea what to say to him, there was nothing she could say to make the situation better. Because in reality nothing would make this better, it took what felt like hours to find the words. But in reality it was just a matter of seconds, shaking her head she sighed softly.
"I don't know if you can hear me or understand me, but I am so sorry this happened to you" She said sadly her voice trembling she was so upset.
"My species are wicked beings and I am ashamed to be one, but I promise you. I will find a way to get you out of here, this I swear" Her voice turned from sad to determined.
