Night Court had a funky little bass line below a jazzy clarinet . Not something you hear every day.

I always thought there was a lineage to the Barney Miller theme. The bass, and Ney Yourk studio funk vibe. I think the melody is soprano sax, not clarinet.
All the Starsky & Hutch themes were good but this was definitely the best.
