Like, I never knew that incest, which I had assumed was a niche interest, is actually as popular as it is. Even my own kinks, which I had assumed were relatively uncommon, are far broader than I had imagined.

The amazing popularity of Virginia Andrews' Flowers in the Attic etc in the late 80s clued me in that incest is a big fantasy among people who read, but the huge popularity of 'incest' in videos surprises me - surely people aren't watching porn for the plots?

I have to admit that mainstream porn leaves me cold and yes, you see one blow job/pussy shot and they're all the same. Maybe it's because I studied medical science, where lecturers liked showing pictures to make both halves of the audience cross their legs and wince, but the closeups on gynaecology/urology and their emissions just aren't what I want the closeups of. I suppose if you analyze porn too closely, it isn't really erotic. In fact, if one looks at sex itself as a purely physical act, that is also not that erotic per se. It's really based on the context, the mental attitudes of the people involved. Otherwise, it's sort of an illusion perhaps. That hasn't stopped porn from becoming a huge industry. Illusion sells.

An example that comes to mind is in Spike Lee's 1999 film Summer of Sam. There is a scene in there of an orgy at the Plato's Retreat sex club, which I suppose was mostly accurate. In any case, the scene doesn't look particularly erotic and I don't think Lee intended it to be that way.

I can enjoy porn purely for the visuals, but I agree with you that it seems to be very difficult to capture certain types of eroticism audiovisually. I can't help but think there's an untapped market, or maybe there isn't much of a market for it (although I have a hard time believing that), or maybe there's something about the medium that makes it tough to do. The most erotic audiovisual porn, as far as I can tell, tends to be somewhat more softcore. It's hard to find what I would describe as a good visual equivalent of a Literotica story.

Something I think of as kind of like an audiovisual Literotica story is Tinto Brass's short and very sexy film Ultimo Metro, about a woman who does a striptease for a man standing across the tracks from her in a deserted subway station. Which makes me think that "trains" might be a good trope for an erotic event. They can bring together in interesting and very risky ways.

I don't feel VC got people interested in the kink of incest, it was not portrayed as being all that sexy, it was a realistic view of a sick family. GOT did the same in not exactly making the Lannister's seem hot and sexy, more like these two are messed up.

As someone who is both a big incest porn fan, and a fan of porn in general I feel it was Kay Parker's Taboo that opened the floodgates, putting mom son right out there like that-and with somewhat of a story- was big back then. The other thing that kicked taboo porn off is....the internet and the privacy it provides.

You would be less likely to buy a mom son movie in amazing than you are to search Porn hub for mom son porn because no one knows you're little secret.

I'd argue that it was happening anyway even without the Internet. Hardcore porn became legal in Britain around 2000 during my 20s and even at that time (when you could very slowly download a few seconds grainy clips of porn) Vivid felt like it was the 'old' style of porn - although it definitely had a glamour that is almost completely missing from modern porn. Porn staring acting is infamous for a reason (and it's not like they get the same number of read-throughs or takes as professional actors would or the same quality of script) and directors increasingly felt like it wasn't worth bothering with if people were just going to fast-forward through it anyway. The better type of 'gonzo' porn felt more authentic because the nobody had to play a character and the viewer felt they got a real sense of the girls character and the sex was less obviously choreographed (although it still was). The worse type traded plot for longer and more extreme sexual acts.

Some of the films did interviews with the girls before the action started, these sometimes worked, but often devolved into 'I'm from [non-costal US state] but got onto a bus to LA last week. This is now my third porn movie and that's my life so far."

For the AI story challenge, I was looking for a way for the heroine to beat the AI, and it turned out tropes were the answer. Its mind may have been formidable, but it was built on a foundation of human narratives, and struggled to move beyond their conventions just as much as we do.

I've never done a baby sitter story as of yet. I know its a weird thing to get hung up on, but my muse is always like, well...where are the kids when this happens? My odd personal code of ethics is I wouldn't want them to be in the house during even in a fictional story, and of course one wrong mention of the kids during a sex scene could somehow trigger the under age boot.

The one that comes to mind would beat some tropes by being the sitter seducing the single mom, whereas usually its the dad, or other times the couple seducing the sitter together.

I've done a lot of older couple younger girl group stories as its my favorite combo, but for a sitter story I'd keep it one on one.
