Spinning the Trope...author's challenge idea

What if the theme was a trope. One that is an iconic erotica classic and for challenge we all just deliver on that trope with whatever spin we could put on it to make it ours. Or...in spirit of the contest, making it as tropy as possible

Maybe the writing equivalent to the ugly sweater contest, we're not gunning for a study in literary originality here, more like feed them what they want.

Any interest?
I like this - I might not be able to enter because I always struggle to write to a specified theme, but for those who can I think there's a lot of potential.

One of the best-known tropes for both romance and erotica is "there was only one bed" [so they had to share...] and I had fun reading one that turned that on its head. Heroine desperately wants to sleep with the guy she loves but can't bring herself to proposition him, so she's desperately hoping that when they get to the inn there'll only be one bed and they'll have to share and then it'll be fate telling them to do it.

As they get closer and closer to the inn, she's overthinking it more and more. When they actually get there, she just snaps, and tells the innkeeper "you only have one bed".

"What? No, we have several - "

"YOU ONLY HAVE ONE BED." *slaps down money, glares at him until he takes the hint*

Youth pastor is also popular
My latest for sale is "My Friend's Hot Mom: Taste of Sin. A hybrid Milf/hotwife story with the friend's mother a youth minister and her husband the pastor. Kid suspects there's more to his plain Jane goody two shoes friend's mom and finds out she's a hot wife and the husband a stag and when out of town they pick up men and either the husband just watches or sometimes joins in

For extra fun, beneath the borderline Amish clothing the wife always wears in church and in public she's heavily tattooed from her former days of a being a stripper.

I through the whole pot in.

That's one I never considered, but its a really good one.
That one is big in taboo and I did it once as a stroke piece, but would be interesting to do with more substance in a different pairing

Oh easily - two scientists at a conference with competing papers to defend, hotels all overbooked (there is a conference in town), they're booked in the same room and sitcom shenanigans ensue ending with them shtupping of course since erotic story.

I didn't do the "only one bed" thing there, but I do have an academic-rivals-to-lovers story!

One take I was thinking about for O1B: two people with the same name book into the same hotel for a conference/etc. and the hotel cancels the "duplicate" booking. That gets them together but also offers some further hooks - is there a family connection?

Could be. Father and daughter working in the same academic field, but they work at universities on opposite coasts, and she's divorced and has a different last name, and nobody at the conference realizes they are related. Everyone assumes they are lovers, and they go along with it.

The low status might be the attraction for a classy lady who wants to go slumming.
All right, the lady in this isn't truly "classy," but she pretends to be perhaps. Let's face it, if you live in The Bronx, as she admits at the end, you're probably not that classy. (Except perhaps for Riverdale, and people from there usually say they live in Riverdale even though it's politically part of the borough.)

Minerva's Taxi Ride

The first part of the story where she blatantly teases him is a bit unlikely, but plausible. A key moment is when she asks him to jerk-off in the front seat while she watches from the back. He finds that a bit insulting (a likely response) and he tries to sweeten the deal by getting her in the front to give him a handjob. She finds that insulting and gets angry at him.

Thus in real life, the story would probably end when he drops her off at the diner on 231st Street. But as a piece of fiction, that's not much of a story, is it?

Oh and if that other site, you know, the one we all visit from time to time for 'research purposes', the one that starts with P and ends in ornhub, Realtors seem to be a popular scenario?

Interesting, and I guess it's possible, but unless they're Mennonites, most church ladies don't wear borderline Amish clothing. From what little I know, they may dress modestly but still stylishly - although in a slightly old-fashioned way perhaps.

By the way, when did wives with sexual desires become "hot wives?" (Sometimes it's one word.) Why not just wife?

I think hotwife mainly means a wife who's hot for other men besides her husband.

A lot of the church parts were based on my parents church. They're Pentecostal, the women do not cut their hair, wear no make up, wear long skirts and dress very modestly. The younger girls and women may dress with more style, but still within the confines, the older woman its pretty stiff.

As for hot wife, I've seen it one word and two words, and by hot wife it means she sleeps with other men sometimes while she's out on her own, other times with the husband present. The term for the husband's of these wives gets complicated as there seem to be various terms with each based on their level of approval with what the wife does.

I know there are all kinds of churches out there. (Let's hear it for the Protestant Reformation.) There is a version of a Pentecostal Church up the block from me that seems to have a congregation entirely of African immigrants. The women dress very well indeed. I don't know what kind of connection, if any, that would have with your parent's church.

I know I'm being a bit too PC with the term hot wife. It just bugs me a bit, but that is the term that is in common use. I mean, one wouldn't call a cheating man a "hot husband."

It's a term that the participants in this lifestyle have adopted, so what's buggy about it? There's no term for "hot husband" because as far as I know it's not a thing. The people who participate in this fantasy/lifestyle don't think of it that way. They also don't think of it as "cheating." It's extramarital sex that's consented to by both spouses. When both do it, they're swingers. When the focus is on the wife, she's a hotwife.

Actually, I never knew any of that. I just have no first-hand knowledge of swinging, or even second-hand knowledge. What little I know comes from rather old novels, like The Ice Storm and Rabbit Is Rich. It's depicted in those, but I don't know how accurate they are.

The term for cheating husband is simply man. Women have to have a term the 'men' can cry over.

As for the church thing, has it occurred to you that "borderline Amish" was more a description to put the word severe in the readers mind and not to be taken literally?

Lighten up.

I'm delving more into this as this material sells well in the market and is not set upon like it is here. The difference in a platform where people have to pay and nasty reviews would have to be left under a name, and a place like this which is free and allows anonymous. But for sale, you can write the kink without the "Man, they're going to flip over this."

Here's a gentle suggestion, and I don't mean it in a snarky way. Before objecting to the way people use words in stories, read the stories. Pronounce no judgment at all until you know what words they use, why they use them, and the context in which the words are used. There's an ocean of data available at one's fingertips. I don't mean this about you in particular, but there's way too much judging going on in this forum. There's a lot of "You have to respect my kink, but I don't have to respect yours."

It makes sense, because the dollar is a barrier. Those who've paid the dollar understand what they are getting for their dollar and have agreed to it. Nobody has paid anything here, so there's less self-selection. People are horrified at stuff that doesn't show up on their list of acceptable kinks.

I respect the Hot wife kink, and cucks and stags etc. I have no issue with any kink. My issue has become the festering maggots that have seriously wounded the category and kinks. Its obviously not their kink, they come there to hate. So if I speak ill of LW its that faction of readership, not any of the stories...

Except BTB because as I said before, put as simply as possible, hate is not a kink, and that's what those stories are written to inspire and what feeds the already feral lunatics.

Yes, I know; I've seen a lot of that on here. I suspect that is because we share no "common language" yet. For my parent's generation (coming of age in the early 1950s), probably most "kinks" we're so far underground that many people had never heard of them. Or if they were known, they were discussed only in private. With the Internet (which is still fairly new), now everything is out in the open, and culture clashes often occur. Even for my generation (1970s-1980s) there was not a lot of information available from most sources about sexuality.

Sounds like I'm your generation, and the seventies(I turned 12 in 1980 so was still a kid in the seventies) were wild, the key parties, swinging etc was pretty common knowledge. Hot wife wasn't coined then, but they were there. The 80's kicked off the boom in VHS porn industry, but yes, it seemed like everything was 'common porn' lesbian, group, couples' the niche stuff didn't start coming along until the boon of the net that has created a billion dollar porn industry.

But I think it depends on the person. I agree things were kept hushed more(the net has put it all out there) but you could find it if you were the type to look. I had sex at a very young age thanks to an older girl in the same foster home, and she was-I saw this when I was much older and looking back-disturbingly precocious sexually- but she opened my eyes to sex, and a pile of 1960's paperbacks I found at 14 written by anonymous exposed me to BDSM, incest, rape porn, and everything else.

By my late teens I was a sub to a 35 year old woman, who then taught me how to top and I was hitting the fetish clubs with a fake ID all over New England, so I'm someone who's always known what's out there, and TBH it sort of less fun that now every poser out there can talk about things like they've done them and never have.

I was twenty-five in 1980 and I had been married for two years at that point. (I'm not married now.) Although I was in New York, hardly the most conservative place in the country. my family and I tended to be - low-key, non-assertive about sexual matters, I'd put it. A number of years earlier, I read some of the novels my mom had left around, like Rabbit Redux and Portnoy's Complaint. But even Portnoy, although he whacks off a lot - his actual fantasies are quite conventional.

So I didn't know where to look, and I wasn't that eager to truly find out. I remember reading part of Robert Coover's Spanking the Maid in a bookstore around 1982, but I didn't have the nerve - really! - to buy it. Through the 1990s, Hustler Magazine, which is actually on the tame side, was the most explicit thing I saw.

I guess that's why I'm on Lit and other sites now - partially to make up for lost time. I'm always discovering something unexpected here. Like, I never knew that incest, which I had assumed was a niche interest, is actually as popular as it is. Even my own kinks, which I had assumed were relatively uncommon, are far broader than I had imagined.

Two things I learned through both coming to lit and watching a ton of porn
If its a thing....its someone's thing, (example, a pic thread here dedicated to women's armpits)
The other is as much of a kinkster as I felt I was, there's people here that make me feel like Mr. Vanilla.

I try to go easy on the porn,* but I've definitely seen things on there that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. And yeah, I'm quite vanilla compared to many others out there. Probably my now departed family members - almost all of them have passed - wouldn't agree, but who knows what they thought about in secret?

* In a story I've never published, I have a female character give a tongue-in-cheek critique of porn: "If you've seen one blowjob, you've seen them all."

Housewife who is a longtime recipient of pizza delivery (if you know what I mean), goes to the pizzeria to get it herself (IYKWIM). The delivery guy, waiting there, sees her, and is crushed. She tells him that the value he added wasn't significant. She goes into the kitchen and bangs the baker.
