Spinning the Trope...author's challenge idea

Recently I had someone ask me to do a commission which would consist of 4 quick and dirty Hotwife scenarios. I use that word because they didn't want much story, just four quick set ups and hot sex. I said I could do it, but what did they specifically want?

Their reply is what put this idea in my head, they replied "Give me the classics, in your style." They added they think my sex scenes are extremely vivid which was the 'style' they wanted. So, it wasn't hard to do, I went with four tropes, for example, the super cliched wife by the pool in her skimpy bathing suit while the landscaper is working...we know what it goes. The husband needs a promotion wife earns it for him, husband owes money, wife pays it off in sex...all easy been done to death, but what they wanted.

Because tropes are tropes because no one gets tired of them.

With that in mind, I looked at all the recent author challenges which of course have a theme, but aside from the theme everything is fair game.

What if the theme was a trope. One that is an iconic erotica classic and for challenge we all just deliver on that trope with whatever spin we could put on it to make it ours. Or...in spirit of the contest, making it as tropy as possible

Maybe the writing equivalent to the ugly sweater contest, we're not gunning for a study in literary originality here, more like feed them what they want.

Any interest?

Now, the question would be what is the trope? For starters, I know every genre has its tropes, but I want this to be a universal classic. Think things that would mostly be considered standard erotic fair.

I want to avoid polarizing categories like taboo, non consent. Same for 'fantasy' categories like sci fi, erotic horror, non human. We're going to do straight up founding father types of tropes in straight up erotica. Of course pairings can vary as in GM, Lesbian, Trans etc... the trope character can be either or any gender.

I'm not sure about group as in involving multiple partners...that could spin away from the classic tropes.

The trope itself will be up for discussion and voting, this isn't 'my' challenge, its a suggestion and we can all work it out if there's enough interest.

Some examples I think fit the best

Librarian
Babysitter
Teacher
Boss

Take it out in trade is a possibility...but not in a NC black mail nasty tone, more of a I need my car fixed, but really don't have any money, can we work something out? Not sure if it fits which is why we all decided

feel free to add more, these are the first to jump into my mind.

For very obvious reasons I want to avoid anything involving cuck or hot wife. Doing this because I want this to be a fun positive event, and I prefer no incel fodder to be part of it. If people disagree, again, we can discuss/vote, but just like I want to leave out things like taboo and NC, at this point LW is becoming the same level of trump category.

I like this idea, but that's no surprise because I'm always up for trying to find creative twists on familiar tropes.

I'm currently working on stories involving librarians and female bosses, so both work for me. I like the boss idea. It's defined enough to make an event meaningful, but it has limitless possibilities. To narrow it just a bit the trope could be "female boss" which is a bit more defined but still allows limitless possibilities and exploration of different categories. I can instantly imagine stories on that subject involving BDSDM, E&V, nonconsent, interracial, group sex, taboo, gay male or lesbian, you name it.

  • Bridesmaid / Best man hooking up
  • Hooking up at a school reunion
  • Patient falling in love with their nurse
  • "Whoops I lost my purse mister taxidriver, can I pay some other way" (she didn't lose her purse, but the taxidriver was hot)
  • Teacher/Parent of one of the children they teach (which is a bit less exploitative than teacher student)

"Special" Delivery, is that too vague? In that it could be UPS or Dominos, but that it's a delivery person coming to Main Characters house and sex happens.

Might be just me but when I make "Porn" jokes it's usually about how a dude has a hole cut for his dick in a pizza and somehow the lady loves his greasy (probably burned) dick.

I really like that last one, the immediate visual that came to mind was Forest Gump "your mother sure cares about your education" or whatever the exact quote was.

That's perfect, with the added challenge of how many package/delivery in the rear jokes could be made.
I think delivery guy/woman is a great possibility

Female boss does seem to have more potential, or that could just be the way my mind works.
I always like the role reversal where the male intern has to earn his position.

Right. The reversal potential is great. Or it could be a strong female boss with a submissive side who takes on a male intern who turns out to be a Dom. Lots of ways to spin it.

I like the idea of avoiding LW as much as possible, also the specific fetish categories too. Like I/T or bondage that would put a lot of people off.

Teacher/Parent is really great as it lets in all the "Main Stream" categories like gay/lesbian/interracial/group/erotic couplings without cutting somebody out.

Female boss could have something spun on it but... Not really open for Gay Male story lines. But... Boss itself might be a damn sizeable trope.

School Reunion could be fun too, especially if the caveat of the story is that everyone has to know what the Main Character(s) did by the end.

If I went with this, I'd go further and make it a cougar kitten piece.

Stranded in a cabin.

It doesn't get much tropier than that. Other than the aforementioned wedding day cheat.

Looking at some of the early responses makes me think category. Teacher student would usually go in mature, of course anything GM or lesbian would hit their respective places.

In the other contests I believe the stories are under the umbrella but go into their own categories. We could do that here, or seeing this is about general tropes level the playing field by putting everything in EC? If we suggest that to Laurel, I feel she'd do it.

More niche:
- MSF expat nurse and local doctor
- Journalist on mission in war zone with translator (danger is exciting)
- hostages (with all the danger of getting caught out by the captors) - this would work best where the hostages have no possibility to (easily) escape even if not tied up, like when held somewhere in the desert by a terrorist group, or locked together in a room but not bound

You could call it "Cabin in the Woods," recalling the movie, one of the more clever horror movies I've seen.

I suggested "stranded in a cabin," though, because it's one of the few tropes I've not written.

That's the problem you're likely to run into. Any writer here with more than 10-15 stories has probably already written a bunch of these. I agree that student-teacher is a great trope... which is why I've already done like a dozen of those. Lol. I'm not really into doing another.

When I touched the trope for "librarian", I ended up with a catgirl who had a penchant for magical gateways being manipulated into hiding a human experiment away, by a demon-infused empress.

Tropes are always fun, to see how far you can take them.

I have just one word: "Ook"
(though that would fall foul of the rules, I think).

Well, the Librarian was human, right at the beginning of the Colour of Magic. It's just everyone sort of forgot what he was like before then. So... Actually... Maybe? Might need to anime up to make him a little bit more human. And then we can hear sexy "Ooook?"

I'm down with librarian, too, because I'm working on a fetish story involving a librarian and I could use the extra incentive just to get the damn thing done.

Considering how long I've been doing this, and body of work here and in the market I have never written
Babysitter
Librarian
Or a direct boss story
Teach student I've done a couple of angles on.

I avoided tropes for a long time, at least the major ones, but now after trying to be different for a long time I figured it wouldn't hurt to pay homage to the classics.

Seems to me Librarian has the most interest early on
