I've edited a lot of stories. And, hey, you don't do it for the credit. And I'm rehashing the complaints of many editors here.. just being ignored on edits you do give. So I'll keep editing, but it's a two way street. Just cause it's porn doesn't change anything. I've co-edited/written with a buddy who was doing a play and I was doing a novel. Non-porn, mainstream. It's still a lot of work.
So, hey, have some respect for our editors. I'm a writer, but I know I have issues and need an editor. But I know I'm a good editor of other people's stuff. So, when someone offers to edit for free? Feel special. Feel lucky. And be willing to be vulnerable. Because you are so not as good as you think you are. And you're probably too horny off your own story to see the massive errors you've got strewn throughout your piece. If an editor hands you back your work and says "great! just one misspelling!", maybe you should rethink that.
We're not magicians.. but we are volunteers willing to help, than just may have a bit of experience.
