Need a new word for laugh

I only use giggle for a young girl or a woman who is drunk.
Snicker is a good one if there is sarcasm or mocking involved.
Chuckle never sits right with me for some reason, just style I suppose.


This is like the word moan, there just doesn't seem to be enough workable variations.
