I have sent numerous emails to a few o the authors who post stories here, and not one of them could be bothered to respond. Mainefiddleheads, qhml1, and slow_and_gentle are 3 of my favorites but not one of them could respond to an email. How many other readers have had similar experiences with the authors here?

I also have sent various emails to authors..all positive..no response. So I stopped rating and sending feedback. I'm not gonna waste my time and energy if they can't at the very least acknowledge it.

I have gotten lots of response from authors over the decades. Just like people on the forums, they go through periods where they have Real Life stuff going on, and don't even check their e-mail address which they use for Lit. You may get a reply 5 or 6 years from now.

I understand if you don't want to give your time and effort to people who don't acknowledge yours. I've made those kinds of decisions in my Real Life. It's called prioritizing.

Please don't get angry at the authors. You don't what's going on in their life right now, and if they even can access that e-mail. Maybe they are thinking they could answer e-mails or write, and answering e-mails is a form of procrastination for them, and you would probably prefer another chapter or story. Or like Real Life relationships, at some point the delay is so awkward that they abandon their good intentions.

Maybe you could raise the questions in the Author's Forum without naming specific authors. Somebody will probably respond, and maybe you'll feel better about things while at the same time reminding the authors in general how it feels from your perspective.

As an author, if I got numerous emails from one reader, it would feel a bit stalkerish. To me, the whole "contact by email" feature is quite intrusive anyway. For various reasons, authors here prefer to keep some distance between their presence on Lit and their personal lives.

Have you tried the DM/PM function? You might get more response that way.

Let's not forget that Lit is technically a porn site. When I first started writing here, my email account automatically dumped everything from Literotica into my spam folder. I had to tell my account to not do that. Likely, the writer hasn't done that as they don't check their spam folder and it happened so infrequently it wasn't caught.

I'm sorry you didn't get the feedback you wanted.

Kathy, when we post a story, fewer than one reader in a thousand rates the story, and fewer than one in five thousand comments. It's tough to continue writing with so little reader reaction. So imagine if the writer had your attitude. No stories at all. Give us a break, huh? We're cranking out stories for your amusement for free.

Some reply to mine and some don’t. In the end I really don’t give a shit.

As an author who has received emails I do my best to reply. I will say some of the emails people send though are down right creepy. While I a sure those aren't the type of emails you sent those emails may make some authors decide not to respond to any emails.

Also if you do write an author don't include what you are hoping to see in another story or request they write a story that you want to read.

I love to receive messages about anything I post on Lit. I always reply. Happy to chat to anyone anytime about what I write and post.

If you are trying to contact authors via their profile 'contact' button, I have found that avenue either does not work or takes many days for an email to arrive.

I tested this by sending emails to myself from stories I have written. A few eventually (a week or so) did arrive, but most never did. This way of communicating to authors is either broken or so inefficient as to be useless. Just my experience...

Verified. I sent an email last night and there is nothing in the inbox this morning. @Max8959 This could be your trouble.

I've had more PMs "on site" than I've had emails. Maybe it's because the 'Contact" route is a bit intimidating and the nervous responder might think 'hang on - does this mean I'll get tracked and someone will take my children away?'
Does everyone remember to fill in their own email address? The Contact email arrives at the author Sent By Literotica and we don't see the senders email unless they include it.

It's not necessarily author apathy. The email address I use for Lit is *not* my main one, and I visit maybe once a week - it's just set up as a consequence of Lit requiring an email address to create the membership. Plus, a bunch of stuff gets dumped into spam, out of the way. Plus there's no return email so no way of contacting back unless it's in the body of the message.

Ping on the forums with a DM. More likely to get noticed and therefore replied to. Or, leave a comment - they *always* get read at least.

I am an author as well as a reader and commenter. Because of the stories I write, I have received some frothing at the mouth ranting and raving about how evil I am. As a commenter, I quite often receive emails from primarily new authors thanking me for my comments on their story. When I send a thoughtful email to another author about one of their stories, I generally get a positive response

I'm back after fracturing the L4 vertebrae in my back, in August.
Don't get pissed when you don't hear back.
You never know what is going on in someone's real life.
I've only ever heard back from 1 author that I emailed.

I have heard back from some authors I’ve emailed. They’re usually nice, even when it takes a while. I follow their example unless someone disturbs me or I’m giving a fair warning. That kind of thing happens when you write stuff like you see on Lit.

I've had people PM me to say that they've emailed me and I haven't replied, I use a different email address for Lit which I only rarely check and when I looked there were no messages in my inbox or span folder. So I'm not sure if email doesn't always work or my email host filters out Lit as spam.

If someone takes the trouble to write I will always reply, unless I consider the message abusive, after all it is nice to know that your story has been read and whether the reader appreciates or enjoys it. As already stated the author my be very busy in real life, they may even have moved on from Lit or died - after all some stories were posted years ago and some people are no longer active.

If there is no reply there is no point wasting energy on being upset with that person.

Exactly the same situation here. I see the mail address I gave Lit maybe once a week, if that. And if something is dumped in spam, I would never notice.

Thanks for your responses. I appreciate it. The authors had posted stories here that they later removed. I was trying to find a way to read them again. Thanks for explaining the process and the comments.

I did eventually get the email I sent, though it took 48+ hours to arrive.

I have an email associated with my Lit account that is ancient. I rarely think about it, so I rarely check it. Your prompt has made me want to go find my password for it. So, thank you for that, but bear in mind, too, that this may also be the case for many other authors.

Is anyone else having issues with the feedback messaging on your publications?
I don’t seem to have had any since 2022
I’ve tried messaging myself with no success, if someone wouldn’t mind clicking on my name in my profile here https://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=5955776&page=submissions
just to say ‘Hi Madeleine, you’re the best’ or something similar and let me know on here if you’ve done it then I can see if I have a problem or I’m just unpopular.
thanks

I have only published three times, and have responded to emails from readers. However, I have received far more emails thanking me for my comments, especially from new writers. I have also been emailed by other readers, calling me anything but human for comments I have made on another writer's story. Some I respond to, others I don't. But, I made people think
