CNN's Jim Acosta gets his lunch eaten at press briefing

Bwhahahaha. Accosta got him to argue against the statue of liberty.

Miller is a complete fool and looked like a complete moron during that interview.

Ah, it's the old "How dare you question what we do and call it racist? That makes you the real racist. Ah-hah!" routine. A true classic.

The Statue of Liberty is an inanimate object that has NOTHING to do with the law of the land. The little 'feel good' sentence at the base is not green card policy nor is it enshrined in The Declaration of Independence, The Federalist Papers, or The Constitution. The US DOES NOT have an open door immigration policy nor has it had one in over 100 years. Miller was entirely correct in pointing out Acosta's abysmal ignorance.

Obviously, Acosta knows nothing of our immigration laws or how they have been applied in the past, before Obama and before Ted Kennedy.

I must admit I didn't watch the whole exchange. Did Acosta claim the Lazarus poem is law and policy, as opposed to a cultural artefact oft cited as a quintessential American ideal?

It was Miller Time at the White House. Acosta was kicked to the curb like a skid row wino.

Miller will be fired before 2018. Bet it.

Leave it to the foreigner to school the unpatriotic dipshits.

Neither the Declaration of Independence nor the Federalist Papers have anything to do with the law of the land either.

LOL, did you read my post and think I was saying that the Statue of Liberty was a real person?

Did I suggest that the poem on it was an actual law?

As usual, you throw out ridiculous statements to try and spin events.

Glen Thrush made Miller look like a unhinged moron as the White House is desperately trying to reset their communications. It was an epic fail. And your arguments above are all over the right wing news sites today. Good job promoting the party line, Ish.

The poem on the statue of liberty does describe the attitude of the US towards immigration that has unofficially guided policy and become part of what this country has stood for. But you know that.

He knows even less about the history of the Statue of Liberty. That line is from a sonnet by Emma Lazarus and was donated to the friends of the poet in 1903, BEFORE congress slammed the door on immigration in 1916. The plaque was mounted inside the base until the 1986 renovation when it was moved to the Statue of Liberty Museum. It was NEVER part of the original design nor was it part of the original symbolism of the statue.

At the time Lazarus wrote her sonnet the US did have an open door immigration policy. It appears the in Acosta's mind we still do, or should anyway. Further carrying through on Acosta's distorted, or lack of, knowledge of history the original sin was committed back in 1916 by the US congress and president Wilson who signed the act into law.

If anyone wants to argue the merits of the proposed policy......fine. But using the Statue of Liberty, and more precisely Lazarus's sonnet, as the basis of said argument is stupid beyond belief.

Looks like The Zipper knows even less than Acosta, who made a complete ass of himself.

CNN’s @acosta read a poem, then had a meltdown when Miller suggested new immigrants should be able to read it.

To be a lefty is to believe that the Constitution is a living document that changes with the time, but a poem on a statue binds immigration policy forever.

Accosta "asked whether the Trump administration's newly unveiled, merit-based proposal for granting green cards is in keeping with U.S. tradition."

He didn't say the poem was the law of the land.

He said that it reflected the spirit of the US as a beacon of hope around the world. That's why the poem was put on the Statue.

But keep arguing things that weren't said. It seems as though that's all you have.

There is NO FUCKING TRADITION, there is merely the law of the land.

Of course there is.

There is both a history and tradition of the US being a welcoming home to immigrants from around the world.

Go read a fucking history book.

People like Zipper don't give a shit about the law of the land - the REAL tradition. It's all about feeling good, rainbows, and unicorns.

Miller destroyed Acosta but the delusional Zipman trapped in the confines of the Rabbit Hole can't see it.
