As far as vanity searches - Noor, not being able to do them on short names had nothing to do with choosing not to go with Mona alone. I rarely, if ever, vanity search my own name simply because my full name seldom pops up in threads. Everyone here refers to me as Mona and as you pointed out, to search that name would be to do so in vain. I can't even remember the last time I tried. The only time I use the search function is when I'm looking for friends.
