Your opinions on virginity

First let me say I'm sorry I haven't posted in ages. I've been super busy on another board and I just haven't had time to get back here.

Anyway, here's my question. Are you still a virgin if you've never had vaginal intercourse but you regularly participate in oral sex?
A friend and I were debating this and a post in the how to forum reminded me of it. I say no. I don't see how you can engage in any form of sex and call yourself a vigin. My friend thinks you're a virgin until you have vaginal intercourse no matter what else you do. What does everyone else think? Come on guys, I want to win this debate. LOL.

IN MY OPINION:

Historically speaking, virginity was measured by the presence of an intact hyman. I'd have to go with the loss of virginity being measured by the loss of the hyman THROUGH VAGINAL INTERCOURSE. <---this is so nobody points out that girls break their hymans all sorts of ways. yes, I know that. It's not germaine to what I'm saying.

It's highly unlikely she'd know if her hyman was ruptured previously, so I'd assume it to be intact until her first experience with vaginal intercourse.

OK, I'll admit that by the dictionary definition you're a virgin until you have vaginal intercourse. Screw Websters for a minute. In the real world do you really think it's ok to tell a guy you're a virgin even when you've messed around with countless others? I think it's lying myself.

I think if you're technically a virgin, then you're technically a virgin no matter what else you've done.

The statement, "I'm a virgin." doesn't mean "I'm sweet and kind and good and innocent and 100% chaste." It just means they haven't engaged in vaginal sex. So it's not a lie for her to say so.

I don't think your friend is being dishonest at all. You stated that all she's done is engage in oral sex. Oral sex is part of what's commonly referred to as "messing around" and is usually considered appropriate behavior prior to engaging in intercourse.

Phoenyx's example was of a girl who gets assfucked and tit fucked, which is NOT how you described your friend's behavior.

She's messed around with a guy or more. That doesn't mean she's not entitled to the term "virgin" nor does it mean she's the Whore of Babylon.

I agree with Nora technically speaking virginity is over once that hymen has been penetrated by another person.




I've seen so many people question if oral sex is actually cheating on another because it is seen as messing around and because there wasn't any penetration except for possibly a tongue.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you thought she was a whore. I was going for contrasts.

Thinking way, way, way back into my memory for when I was a youngster (we have electricity now, so everything's different!) the girls of my acquaintance would do what was referred to as "everything but...". It gave them an outlet, but preserved their virginity ('til they gave it to Greg S while drunk at a party *sigh* No, not me. My best friend.).

But seriously, that's how it works. You get to remain a virgin as long as you do "everything but...".

As far as what Kitty was talking about, "is oral sex cheating?" yes, but then again I think kissing and groping and fingering would be cheating, too. They're two separate issues to me.
