Here's my story, as posted on another thread earlier tonight:

I was 13 at the time and really had not been educated or prepared for the event. My parents pretty much avoided the subject, other than to shove a library book about the birds 'n the bees under my nose. It was 1966, before the days of sex ed in the schools, or "family life curriculum," as it's called today.
