Your best critique

My "best critique" example actually came in the feedback forum, rather than from AH, but from an author who posts here. I asked in that forum about what was wrong with my story and I got a wealth of thoughtful one or two paragraph summary replies that I had a hard time factoring back into "what do I do next?" That included comments from my volunteer beta reader.

The "Your story sux..." reply was followed by a few paragraphs that described the train of thought in my story. The insult (and the following explanation) let me integrate some of the other comments that I did not really understand into what I hope was a more cohesive picture of the problem.

So what is the best critique you've gotten? Maybe this isn't a great question for the writers who've been here for a while.

For me it's been "Your story sux..." and possibly the critic recognizes the quotation.

The comments/feedback I get aren't critiques. Years ago, I put a story in the SDC, where several posts had excellent points that helped me improve my writing.

I'm not sure what the Story Discussion Circle is doing now, but it doesn't look like guided author critisism of specific stories.

Naoko's beta-reading skills are awesome. She amazed me by her level of proficiency. Thanks to her, I have a small W on my submission list.
Thank you . I am very honoured to be listed alongside LadyVer and Lien_Geller, and it was a pleasure helping out with your excellent story.
