You want to sleep with me...

Jungle Love!

(oh wee oh wee oh)

You should hear me sing that. "in the jungle, the might jungle.... oh weemoway oh weemoway..."

Okay, either it would strangle me or I'd wake up in the middle of the night and think it was attacking me, wrestle with it, and eventually kill it. Poor thing.

Professional curiosity forces me to not be a smart ass.

Did you put any support in the middle of the bed or are you relying on the bedposts to support the entire frame?

Also where exactly is the lightng? Is it recessed into the headboard itself or is it attached to the back and on the floor?

Also...

"In the village...the peaceful village...the Lion sleeps...TONIGHT!"

<sways>

I'm sure you're very cute when you have psychotic episodes.

I can sing it in French ;) although it's a bit different.

Dans la jungle, terrible jungle, le lion est mort ce soir...

Poor lion :(

This is the most mental thing I've ever seen you post. No contest. Totally.

That's what the gladius is for.

If you look -real- close you can see the hilt.

I have since determined that central support will be necessary if I ever get some company in this bed. Since that never happens outside a stuffed Eeyore or two, I'll probably put it off for years.

As for the lights..

You probably will. While I like the simplicty of the bedposts (I mean I really like it) they probably will end up forcing the outside frame boards to start to bend down in a relatively short amount of time.

However, very cool bed and thanks for the pics of the lighting.

Damn, there's just no pleasing some people. No, I don't. It came with some other free shit from an ag show/logging demo.

I'm not THAT hard to please. But chewing tobacco is really gross. I'd prefer if the person smoked, actually. Well, I'd really love it if they did neither, but whatever. Not everyone is perfect.

Took me a minute to picture how you meant 'bending down' but I think I see what you're saying. It's a possibility, but I think even without the center support I'll be ok in that regard.

I hope the 1x8s distribute enough of the force across the 2x2s. The 2x4 down the center is a bit flexible for my taste, but I can stand on it, so I know it's good. I'll support the center one of these days, in the snowball's chance in hell I sleep with someone else.

I don't do either.

If you do not use a box spring you will probably be fine for a good while.

My concern is more that the bed rails are going to want to bend in the middle because of the concentration of weight there. I wouldn't be surprised if that center rail starts to split before long.

Adding a simple four sided box directly underneath that center rail would probably do the job.

I'll probably add a doubled up 2x4 on a hinge, so it's still easy to disassemble. Thanks for the advice.

No worries.

I used to do it for a living and my patron (she liked being called a patron) was always looking to have things built that were not structurally sound, but looked really cool.

My eye is trained to try and find the weak points and then figure out how to address it without screwing up the looks.

because as we all know...looks are superior to soundness <nods>

the bed looks great...very manly. simple and efficient. i like the lighting and the soft warm colors.

you wont be sleeping alone for long.....
now you can say...."hey do you want to come and see my bamboo?"..

ps...all that shop talk is hot.

No idea whether I'd want to sleep with you or not, but the bed and the plants look fantastic!

Gee, I wouldn't mind having having bamboo in my bedroom. That idea seems more and more awesome the more I think about it. I wonder if it'd live; I don't have a whole lot of sunlight in my apartment.
