This is supposed to be a politics Board but there is absolutely zero discussion of the "re-election" today of the most powerful man on the planet, Xi the dictator of China. Any thoughts, or should we go back to chewing over the same squabbles of the last 6-7 years?

You just created a thread.

The Chinese people are worse off. Authoritarians are bad for the world

They escorted old dude out and it didn't look like he wanted to go. Kinda wonder if he'll be seen again.

And yet, this is the future for America that people like the individuals behind the various Rightguide and Icanhelp user accounts would wish upon us. Truly scary.

China, unlike the U.S., has always had an authoritarian government, so this isn't really anything new. For the Chinese people, it's more of the same, and they actually do have more freedom (aside from the lockdowns) than they did under Mao Tse-Tung in the 60s and 70s. Although this applies mainly to the ethnic Chinese, not the minorities under Chinese rule (e.g. Tibet, Uighur, etc.) who obviously do not.

He is a problem...and most Americans have no clue.

All synthetic opioids,, including Fentanyl, comes from China. China...supplies everything the Mexican Cartels needs. They send chemists to teach the Cartels what to do. They tell them how to cut it to maximize addiction. The Cartels ship it through Texas...guns come back into Mexico. As each Cartel gains territory...they work to get politicians and judges that will turn a blind eye into office. You see it in every State of the US. Politicians...judges...doing whatever they can to expand the drug trade...and the gun trade. Then...when Govt contracts come open...the Cartel sympathetic politicians...make sure the Chinese companies get the contracts. A perfect money laundering system. And Americans are too stupid to see it. They have no clue that much of the money going to get politicians elected...doesn't matter the party...is coming from a product that costs less than a nickel and being sold for a ten spot. It is all there for anyone that wishes to see it. Follow the money.

Most powerful man on the planet? By what measure?

China is in free fall economic collapse, presided over by Xi.

China is in free fall demographic collapse as well. Xi isn't responsible for that, Mao gets the ribbon for that but Xi has done nothing to address that issue.

The CCP is the most visibly corrupt system extant today. I'm certain there are more than a few third world are more corrupt but they have no real impact on geopolitics. During his first term Xi instituted a rigorous "anti-corruption" campaign, lot of visibility there. But the reality is that he used that campaign to purge the party of any potential adversary and replaced those individuals with equally corrupt drones that support his regime. Hence his re-election.

This is EXACTLY what the most corrupt American president in history did- purge everyone from his cabinet who wasn't a loyalist and appointed shamelessly corrupt loyalists to destroy the institutions (Environmental protection agency, Bureau of Land Management, Public Education, even the Supreme Court) that they were supposed to lead. And this is why Trump's legacy of corrupt mismanagement continues to be such a stain on the United States.

Trump and Xi Jinping- they may be adversaries, but they are far, far more alike than either of them care to admit. (Well, actually Trump will admit it; as he has always shown an open affection for autocrats.)

That's what every president does, they generally stop short of jailing and/or execution. Fucking moron.

The most corrupt president in history isn’t out of office yet. Biden’s EPA is going to sink any aspirations for infrastructure development.

His reply is evidence of his pathological state of mind. It's ALL about Trump for the moron, he just can't seem to wrap his head around the fact that there is a bigger world out there.

The most corrupt president in history
Holy fuck you are delusional. I don't even care about 45's part of your statement....you suck at history .....far worse things (even than the bullshit you believe is true) have occurred during past administrations.

You seriously are the prime example of #grievancePorn I've ever seen ....

He’s a KiethD clone. In Pax’s mind all the world problems stem from Trump’s presidency

Its' obvious he's not alone.
Believing the current President (or even the previous President) as the most corrupt in history is an insult to history.

My thoughts are that your proximity to current events give you a exaggerated self importance to history.

Perhaps you should read a couple of books, ”The culture of corruption :Obama’s tax cheats, crooks and cronies” follow it up with another interesting read ” Obama: the worst President in history “. Biden was part of that corruption and a present day extension of that corruption to include Biden’s own corrupt family enterprises.

I wasn’t discussing anything with you in the first place. You have a bad habit of injecting yourself in other people’s conversation without context. Now unless your handle is Paxnurgle just bud out.

So you read books about recent Presidents and suddenly that makes you some sort of historical genius?

Lol....holy fuck dude.....that's rich...Obama's impact on history is not even begun to be understood by the best historians.

And yes, I comment on things in a public forum...want a private discussion?, have one.

Getting back to China.

The overview is simple. Think of China as a huge factory town with a lot of different industries. They're no different than any other factory town with one great big exception. They're totally dependent on the outside world for everything they do. They have to import all of their raw materials, the bulk of their energy, and most of their food. The only thing they've ever offered is cheap labor and a growing consumer market. The bottom line is they are totally dependent on the 'Globalization' that the US built and sustains. They do not have the power projection to sustain and protect the supply lines they depend on to keep their economy going.

From an economic standpoint they are becoming less attractive daily. Their labor costs have increased 14 fold since the late 1990's. Xi's policies re. the Wuhan Flu, real estate, and foreign investment are counter-productive. Foreign investors and manufacturer's are fleeing as fast as they can find alternatives. Hell, even Apple is looking to get out. In other words Xi is presiding over one of the greatest national declines in history.

Militarily they are not the power that they are trying to convince the world that they are. Yes, they have nukes but that is the path to MAD. And they do have a formidable army. No nation of sound mind would want to take the Chinese on on their home ground. Which is to say they are a continental power, not a global power. They are quite capable of defending their homeland but are quite incapable of projecting any of that power beyond the first island chain. They do have the largest navy now in terms of hulls in the water. But those ships are small, basically Coast Guard Cutters. They have a max. range of maybe 1000 miles on max. economy cruise, reduce that to maybe 300 miles in combat conditions. Their Air Force is in little better shape. And all of that is about to get worse in that they've now been cut off from any hi-tech development or resources.

Long term I'm not concerened about China at all. It is what they might do in the desperation of their death throws that causes me concern. How far will Xi go to keep his hands on the levers of power?

Obama’s impact is well understold. Most people don’t know what transpired behind the scenes in the Obama admin, too busy idolizing him because he was the first black President. Obama’s weaponization of the State department, DOJ and the NSA (deep state) led to what transpired against Trump. Obama and Biden tore our country apart. Obama was a divisive racist and fanned the flames of racism in our country. Now Biden is in the captain’s chair, an extension of Obama only worse, he’s an incompetent fool constantly gaslighting the American people.

Yes, you've demonstrated that you don't like either one, but your words are poorly thought through when describing them as the "most corrupt in history".

What’s really pissing off the Chinese is blocking the sales of microchip technology, that will really hurt their military and manufacturing.

China is not a blue water navy, more like a cardboard navy

Not so much their manufacturing, that's always been labor intensive. It will devastate their military though. Their chip technology is stuck at the "internet of things" level. 28nm technology. Great for refrigerators but definitely sucks when it comes to the technology required for the avionics of a 5th generation fighter. They can build the air frame but they end up with a highly maneuverable, blind, target.

As a contrast, Russia is going through a demographic collapse as well. The big difference is that Russia has the agriculture needed to feed it's people and it certainly has the raw materials. Which is to say that Russia has a financial future without globalization and can survive sanctions, China can't.

Put one carrier battle group at the Indian Ocean side of the straits of Malacca and within 90 days the trucks stop rolling in China, within 6 months the lights go out, and a year later 500 million Chinese are dead from starvation. The Chinese aren't stupid, they know this as well as we do and that drives them nuts as well.

What's their plan Stan? Invade Kazakhstan? North Korea? Maybe Vietnam? How would any of that solve their supply side and resource problems? They could go after Eastern Siberia but Putin has already told them, "We aren't going to fight you on the ground. We're going to nuke you."

That old dude was the former President of China who opened up China to the West, encouraged more democratic freedom (well not much but revolutionary by Chinese standards) and was all for liberalization of the economy.

Someone is sending a message that his era is over.
