The lim is a poem so fine
With a trick to every line
Lines five, two and one
Rhyme (that's how it's done)
While lines three and four also rhyme with each other, the other important thing being the syllable count - 7, 8 or nine syllables being the norm in lines one, two and five (with each line having the same number of syllables - take your cue from the lead) and lines three and four having five syllables each. Only. Ever. And woe betide anyone who stuffs it up!
Like I just did.
Um, heh, heh ...
Bonus points for iambic meter (not mandatory)
And for commenting on your own work.
(No, Jett, that's just you. It makes people think you're weird.)
You clever chops!
Honey, we all know that you're weird. It's part of your charm.
