For whatever reason I've enjoyed a disproportionate number of negative police interactions over the years. Yet I've never been hit by lightning since I take practical measures to mitigate that risk.



Avoiding death-by-shark is yet another risk that can be mitigated by avoiding sharks.

With cops, however, they are unique in that if you actively avoid them then they get triggered and they come after you.

Agreed. I guess I should have seen this coming, but it was not my intention. Was just sharing my situation and wondered if anyone else identified with it. Maybe I just needed to talk about it as part of my coping mechanism.

Civilian homicides happen every day and every week.

Whether a person who commits a murder was lawfully or unlawfully armed, is not a statistic that the U.S. government keeps.
They also don't keep stats on how many crimes are prevented by lawfully armed citizens...they only offer estimates between 500k and 2 million.
Having a fear of the police based upon the actions of a few might be seen as irrational, by some of the commenters here.
