Write a controversial opinion

My controversial opinion is that this particular discussion should go in a different forum.
Agreed. I guess I should have seen this coming, but it was not my intention. Was just sharing my situation and wondered if anyone else identified with it. Maybe I just needed to talk about it as part of my coping mechanism.
I respect everyone's opinions, even those I disagree with.

Cops love sharks. It's true! Just google "40% Cops" and it comes right up!

This is what I get from that query:

Two studies have found that at least 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence, (1, 2) in contrast to 10% of families in the general population.(3) A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24% (4), indicating that domestic violence is 24 times more common among police families than American families in general. A police department that has domestic violence offenders among its ranks will not effectively serve and protect victims in the community.5, 6, 7, 8 Moreover, when officers know of domestic violence committed by their colleagues and seek to protect them by covering it up, they expose the department to civil liability.

being in a room with a confederate flag on the wall would make me uncomfortable, because somebody put it there for a reason and the most likely reasons are probably not great. if I'm in a civil war museum, probably fine! if i'm in some guy's living room, I'm probably going to get the hell out of there 🙄

guns aren't naturally occurring, they don't sprout out of a coffee table like a mushroom 🤣
There's a HS in Michigan that had a rebel mascot. That damn flag was all over the building until sometime around 2015/16? Whenever they started tearing down Confederate soldier statues. Nice, right?

What a weird result.

the only confederate flag I support displaying is the 28th Virginia Battle Flag, captured in the Battle of Gettysburg by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment and displayed in the Minnesota state capital as a war trophy 🤣

You can go to fbi.gov for some statistics. Officer involved killings do not happen every day, or every week, as perpetrated by "media" sources.
Civilian homicides happen every day and every week.
I will not argue this with you.

"than do citizens who are lawfully armed."

I periodically fly the Stars and Bars and also the Bonnie Blue just because the ignorant, recreationally offended assclowns don't know that these are Confederate flags. :p

Whether a person who commits a murder was lawfully or unlawfully armed, is not a statistic that the U.S. government keeps.
They also don't keep stats on how many crimes are prevented by lawfully armed citizens...they only offer estimates between 500k and 2 million.
Having a fear of the police based upon the actions of a few might be seen as irrational, by some of the commenters here.

Some of us have more reasons to fear the police than others.

Never, not in a million years, will pineapple ever belong on pizza.

*runs*
The combination of salty/smoky and sweet/acidic is a S-tier flavor profile, which is why barbequed meat with a vinegar-based sauce is an incredible dish in multiple cultures and countries.

Pineapple and Canadian Bacon Pizza is a proud member of that same genus!

I'd be willing to try it. I've been on no carbs and sugar for 6 weeks, so I'd trade my house for a slice of any pizza right now

Funnily enough, I actually love things like honey barbeque or sweet & sour chicken and curries. It's just pineapple mixed with ham, on a pizza or Hawaiian toast, that raises the hackles on my tastebuds for some reason.

I stand by that, but I want specifically pepperoni. I'll bring my copy of John Brown's Body by Benet.
