Wouldn't it be nice if hearts regenerated?

They say in liver transplants, that they can just slice off a piece of the liver, pop it in to the other person, and it will regrow. Wouldn't it be good if hearts did that too - but inside the original owner.

Everytime you let a piece of it go, it shrinks more and more, til there's barely anything left.

But there is one thing that makes it grow and grow. Its love.

You have to have enough left over for that. At some point, there's just no more room for it - except for those friends and family who are already in there.

I don't believe that.. I think that our hearts expand to fit more that enters into our lives that we love.

C'mon, you know that's not true. Love can burst into flame even from the tiniest spark.

Actually I don't know that it's not true.

I find that I barely have room for new friends in my heart any more - never mind trying to expand it for what could very well be a figment of my imagination.

Kitty - I think you're a romantic. :rose:

HI PET!!!!!

I am not sure about love...but I know that deeper feelings of caring and respect can create building blocks to love...slowly over time as long as the blocks are built with a solid foundation.

Hi, baby
Hearts do regenerate slowly, cell by cell, inch by inch
And there's always room for expansion

Freya love, I have a piece about this somewhere that I will post when I can find it that might answer your question
In the meantime, it sounds like you're hurting?
Don't forget you have folks here who love you, & you know where to find me if you need an ear or a shoulder :rose:

"Love can burst into flame even from the tiniest spark." It's just a figure of speech. What I was trying to say is that you can never say you won't love again. That's like saying you won't ever breathe again. You have to do that. It's essential to who you are. Love is just as essential. It's what human beings do. It's what we crave and there is just no denying it.

James, you should know by now that I don't hurt. Add another layer of ice, and most things get numbed rather quickly.

This was just something I was discussing with my roommate the other day. I told her, every time I give a bit of me to someone, and they step on it, it makes what's left over that much smaller and tighter - so as to eventually get to a point where there's no longer room for anyone but those who are already there.

Pet love, you're one of those who wormed your way in long ago, and you ain't getting out any time soon.

I agree that love is essential, but that's not to say that it needs to be new people. You love those who you love, not necessarily adding anyone to the mix.

Sorry, but sometimes that's not up to you to decide.

True. Of course, doing so just continues the trend even more.

Some days I feel like the Grinch - heart two sizes too small. ;)

Really? lol

Usually I think that I'm the most unromantic person around. :)

Maybe optimist is a more suitable description.

Besides being one of the nicest people here. It's nice to post with you.

Someone that I once loved greatly said that I was such a pessimest.. I told him that I saw myself as a realist. But I think that at times optimism sprouts out. The hearts is one of them. I don't think that it ever fills up and refuses admittance.. I think that after awhile it just starts checking more carefully before they are let in. :)

Why thank you Freya.. I admire that you say what you think despite whether it's a populuar opinion or not. I just bite my tongue and move on usually. lol

Thank you. I maybe should try that. ;)

I found it!

"The Perfet Heart", author unknown

One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed, it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.

Suddenly an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars; it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.

The people stared -- how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought?

The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed.

"You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears." "Yes," said the old man, "yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love -- I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared.

"Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of their heart to me. These are the empty gouges -- giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"

The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart.

It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side.

Thanks James - I've seen that before, and it's great.

Sweet dreams friend.
